I'm almost at the point where I'll get fired because I'm not learning my job fast enough. Its been almost 2 months now and I'm still making mistakes. I read the training documents, but the information doesn't stick and I forget a lot of it if I can't refer to it on the spot. My boss explains things once, then flips out if I don't remember everything. My coworkers think I'm an idiot

I've got my nerves working against me, I feel like a bull in a china shop. I'm going to exercise more this weekend and see how that calms my nerves. I need to push past myself and turn a new leaf or I'm done.

Yep, 3 months is usually the crunch for me, too. After that I can no longer stand how bad a job is not working out.
Do you disclose your autism? Being up front with your employer right off that you're autistic, you may take longer to pick things up, and they need to be aware of that. Perhaps if the expectation from the beginning is that you may take extra time, they won't get as pissed off at you when this is the case. Trying to hide it may make you just come off as stupid or inattentive. Hope things work out for you !

I really hope too that this job works out for you. Is it a job that you'd like once you got used to it?

I always try to hide it, looks like its gonna cost me. It seems like a decent job, although they have a habit of mass layoff/rehires to save on salary expenses. I've been saving up as much as possible so I can finish school if the worst happens. I read the entire training packet again, I'm thinking about just reading it over and over. As terrible as this sounds, I'm glad I'm not the only one this happens to.

I hate to be a nattering nabob of negativism (which I am, A LOT), but management may have already decided to give you the axe. If you ask for accomodation because of ASD, you've already cemented your fate. Remember, last hired, first fired. If you can't pick up the pace in training, and meet the employer's standards, you might as well pack it in and go elsewhere.
