Ok, during my therapy meeting yesterday, I was told that I was to be put up for adoption. And here's the stupid thing: MY PARENTS ARE STILL ALIVE!! ! And the county DSS is planning on taking away my parents' rights to me and my sister. Meaning my parents can never be considered my guardians again! I can't go to their house, and soon I'll stop seeing them at the DSS office! I mean, I don't have long to wait, only 2 years...but my sisters are 4 and 8 (soon to be 5 and 8 in July), and by the time they turn 18, they might forget our parents!! !

I'm still sad about it!

I'm sorry. How come your parents are not allowed access to you anymore?

My social worker said that it's because they didn't make the right choices.

That's horrible news. You've known your parents your whole life, and now you'll have to get used to living with stangers. That would be the most brutal change for someone on the spectrum to have to face. You're in my prayers.

I'm sorry to hear that. I never met my real parents, but if anything ever happened to me like that I wouldn't know what to do. I hope all goes well for you.

I'm really sorry to hear that Chris. It sounds like you love your parents and will miss them. I hope you will be able to stay close with your sisters. They will need you.

Blessings!

Let me at them. I don't need kunai, i don't need shurikens, i'm going to rip them apart with my bare hands and burn what little pieces remain. This is the lowest way to ruin a childs life, by taking them away from their parents for no reason. I'll kill them all.

I am really sorry to hear that chris_hass33. :( Will you be allowed to contact them by phone or email or letters?

Your one sister is 8, there is a good chance she will remember.

I'm very sorry to hear that. Have you talked to anyone about your legal rights? I'm not sure where you live, but in most areas of the US the child has quite a bit to say about his parent/guardian situation once he reaches the mid-teen years, unless the parents are serious felons or have done something really heinous. In any event, I wish you the best.

No one can force you to do something you don’t want to do; no one can stop you from doing what you want to do.

This is self-evident, but sometimes we forget that we know what’s best for us and everyone else is just speculating….

I am glad you don't have so long to wait before you can see your parents again, but your sisters will need a lot of support off you to keep in touch with things. I cannot imagine how you must feel. It is somewhat difficult when things are taken out of your control by people who always think they know better, when more times than not, they don't.

Sad to hear your news Chris. Is it possible for you to gain some sort of legal advice/representation for yourself and your sisters?
Some legal professional (possibly government funded?) that will be able to speak on your behalf, and possibly challenge the social workers decision - if of course their decision is not the best one for your welfare? Or even perhaps organise that all 3 of you be placed together in the alternative dwelling arrangements?

Heart felt thoughts go out to you.

Good thing you don't overreact to a situation without knowing anywhere close to the whole story, or anything like that. That would be unhealthy.

Easy! It's not that big of a deal!

And to the people asking if I have legal rights, I guess not. My social worker is saying that this is what's best for me. I took that as meaning that sooner or later, I'd appreciate what they did. Well, I won't. My parents don't have Internet, and they only have cell phones for phones, so I can't e-mail them, and I haven't written them a letter in ages.

I know that letter writing can seem daunting at times. Perhaps you could just type out an email to them, print it and then mail it to them. If you look at it that way, maybe it won't be so hard. Sometimes just a quick note on a card to let them know you are thinking of them is nice, too.
