As I put more distance between myself and marijuana I am coming to realise (not for the first time, I've been here several times before but reverted to old patterns) that my relationship has required me to be dependent. I am sure my husband feels threatened by the prospect of me becoming autonomous. I will say more here soon but just making this statement here is a big step.

Getting off any medication may bring quite serious withdrawal symptoms. Be careful.

This is a big step...congratulations! :D

And don't fear, many women are actually in the same boat as you. Many are subdued or otherwise forced to be dependant on their partners, and find it difficult if not impossible to regain themselves once more. Children make it even more difficult for these folks.

I know you'll be able to be a free soul :)

I really feel that I need to go back to work. I don't know what I'd do. I've tried so many different kinds of work in the past and everything drives me crazy after a while. I've been working with wild animals as a volunteer for the last two and a half years but there's so little paid work in that area and a lot of people who want to do it. I'd consider working with autistic adults, but I don't now how realistic that is. I'm kind of thinking aloud here - please excuse me!

Yep, well done Scrulie! Things can only get better for you now. :)

How about a part-time job at first, so it's not too much stress? (Just a suggestion)

What about going to some type of school to get training in something?

On a side note when my mom got a job for the first time while married she and my father were seperated shortly after that.

You should never be weak for anybody. I've learned that rule in college, when I knew a guy who was a real push-over.
