NTs are the ones who bullied me the most. They shoved religion down my throat, called me "disabled", said I have "hamburger syndrome", didn't encourage me to follow my passions or expand my knowledge, hurt me physically, molested me despite calling me a "fa***t", and consider me innately unworthy of a girlfriend because I am shy and anxious.

If by saying you live in the "Vile Belt" you mean what we call the Bible Belt of the US - you live in quite possibly the worst area of the country for someone who is different to live.

Your state of Wisconsin isn't so different to be honest. Your elected governor Scott Walker is probably one of the most extreme GOP leaders in the country.

Yeah this so called bible belt can be said to be quite large.

The rural areas elected him. Madison, WI (Dane County) overwhelmingly voted for Tom Barrett (D) in 2010 and Mary Burke (D) in 2014. Which is standard for how the vote works in this country. The rural areas vote Republican while the city areas and university towns vote Democrat.

You are correct. The Bible Belt is Aspergers Hell. You are pressured into suppressing your emotions because men who cry are "wimps" or "fa***ts" and pump iron until your muscle fibers burst. Reading is considered to be only for "fags" unless it's a sports or porn magazine and ignorance is embraced while intelligence is shunned. Country music is God's gift to man while anything else is "weird" or "gay" or "Satanic". If you are a Buddhist or Hindu, you run the risk of being called a Muslim and atheists are considered Satanists for some odd reason.

There is a sizeable hip hip culture here and some might ask if I consider them allies but I have to say they are just as bad as the rednecks. They called me "goth" just because I wore black shirts and liked metal. They also said I was a "p****" for not having a girlfriend and attacked me for my taste in music. They did not consider me a brother in suffering but another "weirdo" like the rednecks.

Looks like you are in the minority there but that isn't so bad if you just thought like everyone else and had the same tastes as them you wouldn't be unique and interesting for people. I have never been to the bible belt so I really can't say whether it is anything like what you are describing. What you may be saying may is most likely generalisations even if it is from your own experience.

You do raise an interesting point though. It was after all a neurotypical dominated world that brought across racism and homophobia all sorts of crazy stuff. How can they say we are insane when they are just as capable of such madness. Neurotypicals are just so weird.

It's the uneducated and unenlightened ones who continue this sort of behavior. People who are prone to fear, being afraid of anything that is different than them are almost always conservative and live in the more rural areas of the country. People who are less afraid and more accepting also are almost always Democrat and live in the more densely populated areas or the coasts.

And additionally, I can't see your profile but I am guessing you're rather young. If you're in your 20s, yeah, people in their 20s (esp guys) are generally more aggressive and the ones most likely to commit a crime. So a bunch of young, raging idiots is never a good time for someone who is outside of the box.

The Bible Belt tries to present itself as a God fearing and moral place but it's a huge sham. They just wear Christianity like a t-shirt and self-serve because they think God will automatically forgive them for everything they do but if you are of a different faith or have none at all, you are going straight for Hell. Gun crime, domestic violence, child abuse, and teenage pregnancy are also extremely high here.

I think the title of the thread should be changed to I hate most Bible Belt NTs. There are some NTs I consider exceptions here. I just hate how the general NT Bible Belt mentality is so rough and backwards.

I don't hate NTs, I just find them maddeningly difficult to figure out. It seems like everything they say, do, and think is 180 degrees opposite fom me.

Living here in SoCal can feel like a different space-time continuum from anywhere else. It's less like a melting pot and more like a tossed salad... not everyone is on the same moral compass, and you're pretty much free to do your own thing---as long as you can pay your own way, of course. The bad news is that you're pretty much on your own if you don't have a circle of family or friends, and you can shout yourself hoarse if you have nowhere to turn for hope. Especially if you're on the autism spectrum.

If I had to live in the Bible Belt, I'd hate everyone too. Heck I lived in Missouri which was bad enough. And the further south you go the worse it gets.

I live in the northern Midwest which is still flyover country but at least I live in a bubble of sanity.

Maybe it's just the way I'm wired, but if I lived in the Bible Belt, my first instinct would be to start a parody religion, like the Pastafarians. I'd have loads of fun with that!

Are the people in the Midwest atleast smart enough to know that Hinduism isn't the same as Islam? As far as atheism and agnosticism goes, they probably still think it's the same as Satanism.

When I lived in MO I stuck anti-religion stickers all over my car. I got so many "love" notes and even had one woman follow me off the highway and into the grocery store just to tell me that Jesus loved me, lol.

I'm an atheist, but I joined the Satanic Temple just for fun, because I love the trolling they do.

Here in the city, yes. Madison, WI is quite smart. But go outside of the city limits and generally no. Anyone who is brown skinned is suspect and any religion outside of Christianity is heathen.

If I mention that I'm an atheist here, no one even looks twice at me.

You could probably do something like that in Austin.

Unfortunately, a lot of the women around here are brainwashed into thinking you need to be a Christian to be a moral person and they can only date Christian men. Even if these women are open to pre-marital sex, they still demand the man to be a Christian. The few women my parents tried to set me up with, however, were completely against the idea of pre-marital sex and wanted to go to church.

Even if I started calling myself a Christian again, I would still be outside the dating realm. I went to a bible study for most of the summer of 2010 and tried to restore my faith but no women expressed any interest in me because I was still lacking the bad boy sports jock flavor most Christian men here exhibit. The men in the group also only cared about sports and the TV show Lost. They did not like anime and manga.

He he... even here in ultramarine-blue SoCal, there are a few Archie Bunker-type right-wingers. I used to make them irate with this bumper sticker on my truck: "GIVE ANARCHY A CHANCE!/...everything else has failed"

They used to honk their horns and give me dirty looks in traffic. OTOH the left-wing hippie types loved it and gave me positive comments about it.
