Reason why?
Because I can't take the fumes any more.

I grew up with this smell when I was young, but can't get over it.

I tried avoiding the smell. When it was my dad's 60th party, it was at a pub, me and my friends cannot stand it in there, I kept coughing, I wanted to hug my parents but they were smoking.
Everywhere me and mum goes, she always has to bring a cigarettes (like Doctor Who ends up bumping into monsters and same for Scooby Doo), she lits one in the car, I open the window quick, she thinks I'm over reacting, tough!! !

I'm not fit any more (I'm not fat) because this, I get coughs easily, my hands and feet get cold easily, ticklely throats.

My dad's friend is having a party, I know they'll bring cigarettes over.

Reason why they smoke is because

Dad:
he was about not to smoke but he saw a girl wanted to impress.

Mum:
I don't know but probely she used to stress out a lot because of housework, might be she wanted to impress my dad or because it was a fashion.

Why can't cigarette factories stop running?

If your a smoker, why would you want to?

They are banning smoking in pubs and restaurants I believe sometime this year, if that isn't already in place... I am glad. I used to smoke heavily, but abhor the smell now. They do say ex smokers tend to become the worst anti smoking propogandists lol. I know that isn't a word but couldn't think up the right one. I smoked 10 years. Got COPD now...mild, but there nevertheless. Still use the inhalators as still addicted to nicotine but I will never touch a cigarette again.

I only smoke when I'm having really bad stress/anxiety...which is no more than 2 per day. Sometimes I'll go quite some time without one.

It's in July in England. Other parts of the UK have the ban already apart from Wales but their ban comes in very soon. To be honest I don't mind people smoking in pubs; it's the loud, obtrusive music that really gets to me.

why can't you try, calming your nerves by.

bitting onto something (I do that, but I really need to stop because I'll be having braces)
run into your bedroom
if public, try calming down
play music
(this maybe embarrassing, but what David Tennant (Doctor Who) does, is fart)

Christians, Muslims, Jews and other religions don't smoke because it's against thier belief.

I don't smoke because I cannot stand the smell and I don't believe in smoking (I'm not religious).

I don't see how farting can be a replacement for nicotine, unless someone knows something about methane that I do not...

Hell, I am the queen of trumps, but it never did much for me that way. :P

Not all smokers are lacking in manners. Some give a damn if the smoke is upsetting to others. That being said, I really enjoy a smoke with a pint. (Especially if it is a real pint, not that garbage some try to sell as a full pint over here...) I think it is important that there be places available where people do not have to have the smoke imposed upon them, but it would be nice if there were still places left that smokers could go.

I'm unaware of any religious rules against smoking, at least in terms of Christianity, Judaism, or Islam. That, and I've known people of each of those religions that do smoke.

I don't care a person's reason for not smoking, I just respect their choice. All I ask is that they don't repeatedly tell me to quit smoking, as it is my choice to continue. (Sure, this could bring up issues of "Oh no it isn't you are addicted," or "They won't stop telling you to quit because it is damaging for you." I'm aware of these things. I'm also aware that them ceaselessly getting on my case is more hazardous for their health than smoking is for mine.)

I also understand the smell issues. If I'm not smoking, the smell can really get to me. If I'm sick, then it really gets to me.

if you are a smoker then you are hooked on an extremely addictive substance. its not simply a matter of choice, your an addict. i would say that most smokers, if they could flick a switch and stop instantly with no repercissions, would flick that switch. unfortunately, *giving up* can be a long arduous process and stress and axiety becomes amplified for a period, its quite strange actually. so, dont give them too much of a hard time, just leave a few *give up smoking* leaflets around the house, and offer some positive support, very important that. smoking sucks, i gotta give up too, dreading it a bit :(

If you are severely allergic to smoke, being around smokers is not a matter of choice. You simply cannot, period. There is no option to dine in the "non smoking" section of a resturaunt because the smoke does not know where it is, and is not allowed to be. There is no option to visit the homes, or ride in the cars of friends or family who smoke because even if they do not smoke while you are there you can not even inhale without choking on the air that surrounds you because this environment is so saturated with smoke. You simply cannot *exist* any place where there is smoke, and that is hard.

Smokers can exist perfectly well in a smoke free environment without being hauled off by an ambulance. I don't think many people give others a hard time because of the fact that they smoke, I think they give them a hard time because so many smokers are so insistant that it is there right to smoke anywhere they please, regardless on the effects on others. Not all smokers, of course. There are some who are perfectly courteous. The laws need to be inplace because there are so many who are not.

I am happy about that!

In the US, smoking has been banned from restaurants for a while. Waiters do not ask, "Smoking or non?" when you come into a restaurant.

Smoking should not be allowed in restaurants in the UK, either!

Er... it's not. In all other parts of the UK apart from England smoking is banned in restaurants and enclosed public places. England's ban comes in July.

Don't count on it. I fasted for a couple of weeks, and had to
consciously re-acquire my desire to smoke. The fact is that
I rather need to smoke in order to think clearly. Before I
started smoking, my mind was flying all over the place. It
definitely helps me focus.

Still state by state in the US. As it should be. There are some
bastions of freedom left.

Yes, state by state. My state (Maine) has many non-smoking laws in place, however if I go over the New Hampshire border (Or, last time I did, may have changed) there is still smoking in restaurants, and you can still book a "smoking" hotel room.
