Well, I recently bought a Playstation 3, and right now I have two games for it, Resistance: Fall of Man and Motorstorm. I bought all of these with my money from my paper route.

Anyhow they ain't letting me buy anymore M games (the good Ps3 games are all M, oblivion etc), I'm 15, and its my f**king money, right? Well, I pretty much gave up on that idea. Now I want to buy a gaming pc, AGAIN because she did not let me last time complaining that I already had a computer. Well its a school f**king laptop, you know?. I'm pretty much getting tired of not being able to use my money.

What should I do/say? Because its driving me insane, and I want something to do, not huddle around a Mac iBook all day playing Classic Doom out of boredom.

Hate to say it, but you are 15. Your parents call the shots. Dude at 15, I didn't have my own computer, I had to wait until college started. Just wait a while.

No one called my shots when I was 15....

Rationalize with them: Oblivion is far less disturbing than watching a spider eat a fly which is unrated, get them to play it with you for awhile or whatever..., they'll understand logic, or maybe not.

I agree that if you earned your money, then it should be upto you how you spend it.

My one criticism is, be careful about throwing all of your money away on buying nice things. At the moment, you probably have no commitments in the form of rent, food, bills etc. If you get used to always buying the things that you want (read: don't need) you may end up as an adult in debt.

Rationalize it. Tell them that you will put a quarter of this months earning towards a pc, then a quarter of next months and so on. that way you have time to think about your decision to blow a grand on a gaming pc and you still end up with some savings. Just an idea

good advice with logic, rincemeister. Ook!
Novaflame, I hope we're not driving you further insane. I know you want what you want, but believe it or not, defered gratification is a good discipline. Too bad wanting and not getting hurts so much. I'm sorry you're frustrated.... Which leads to a sudden thought: Are your parents frustrated about how much time you spend on games?

Talking with them rationally & calmly is the way to do it. Especially if you're willing to commit to, voluntarily, and follow through with, saving a portion of your money. It's a good habit to be into as early as possible. I never learned it, and am now 48 yrs. old living month-to-month and it's not at all fun. You don't want to end up like me, believe me!

You complain about your parents controlling your money. Let me tell you a story about a girl I sort of know. She got a job and her parents made her save 90% of her money from every paycheck. In about a year, her parents spent all the money she had saved.

How exactly does a 15 year old afford a $1000 PS3?

Same here. I didn't own my own computer until I graduated high school, and the computer my parents gave me for college was at first a lower-end Dell laptop.

2 Years of saving up, thats what :D. Right now I'm in the $300-400$ range.

Anyways thanks guys, but I am still going towards a gaming pc. I don't get to buy many things too often, but once exams are over (after 3 weeks from now) I will start thinking about it more.

I'm going to agree with everyone here.

I have mixed feelings here.
While it is your money, and
perhaps you should be able
to make your own mistakes
with it - she may well think
that you spend too much time
playing computer games and such,
and not want to encourage that
behavior.
