I have a sensitivity to loud noise as a lot of us do. So when I go to a restaurant and the music is deafeningly loud I ask the waitress to please turn the music down by half. She says "Well the music is set at a certain level for everyone's enjoyment. I'm sorry but we can't turn the music down" I say "I am on the Autism spectrum and have a sensory disorder, could you please turn the music down by half?" and she says "Oh, of course. I'll tell the manager right away." The manager comes over after turning down the music by 1/3 and tells me he turned the music down and asks if there is anything else he can do for me.
I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this weird quirk? I also had this same problem with a family member. When asking for accommodation for loud music and noise I am initially turned down until I bring up the fact that I have Aspergers. I don't mind bringing up that fact but feel I shouldn't have to pull the disability card.

There's a reason why restaurants play loud music.
It's because it makes people eat faster
so they get up from their seats quicker,
leave the restaurant,
and make room for a new batch of customers ...
that way, they can have more customers each day.
it's all about making money.
I read that in some article, anyway.
Pretty sad, huh?

As many things in life as I do figure out, I hadn't come up with that, it does make sense.
Just for grins I plugged loud music at restaurant in to Google; I'd say twenty-nine million hits seems to indicate it is an issue which matters.
Here are the first several as a sample.
