I watch the Philip DeFranco show and today's episode hit me really hard because it reminds me of my own childhood. (trigger warning: child abuse of course) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvoLmsXKkYM

I'm so mad that these reproducing adults (not parents) get away with this and even profit from it. I've even heard "You're the only one in this family who can't take a joke!" said to me verbatim. And I'm sure it's not fake because I've seen fake crying before. Fake crying does not turn your face red and blotchy. This is not just the kid overreacting. They say they've already been investigated by CPS and there's no signs of abuse, but if CPS bothered to see those videos the kids would be in foster care. Not ideal, but better than being stuck in that house. I live in a town where I'm afraid to go outside because I hear scenes like that as I walk past houses. My neighbors are abusive and their youngest daughter cuts and is considering suicide. Her parents know and they don't care. I can't call the police because the police don't care either. It's so easy to come up with convincing excuses. "She's just clumsy." "You know how kids are, always doing crazy things." "What an active imagination!" Child abuse is ostensibly illegal, but from what I've seen, it's more than just perfectly legal. It's encouraged. I want to be a foster mom and hopefully adopt, or maybe become a Big Sister, or all three, when I graduate college, but that's not for another two years and it still won't be enough. I want to write stories so that kids like me will have a place to retreat to, but I can't make my characters come to life and rescue them. I want to do so much to help these kids and it will never be enough.

It's better to rescue one kid than to rescue none at all.

I checked out one of the videos by one of those users and wow. I really hope it's all fake and just an act because they have it marked as entertainment and say in their description no child was harmed in it. It would be interesting if a whole entire family were actors and they liked shooting videos of them acting pretending to be one dysfunctional family. Reminds me of a video of two brothers and one of them was always having freak outs and it turned out for it to be all staged and they were just actors. They are doing a good job then and the young child is a good actor because it looks so real and it breaks peoples hearts because of how he gets treated by his family. But based on "entertainment" and saying no child was harmed makes me think it's all staged and they're all actors and they do it for fun so that would explain why CPS has done nothing.

Thank God. At least in that case there was justice.
