Freshman year of college is confusing and hard. I’m trying desperately to learn to deal with the stress in healthy ways and increase my tolerance for stress so I don’t screw myself over. In high school and community college, I just avoided drama and hung out with people who didn’t cause problems. Now I’m in a tight-knit program for people with Asperger’s and other disabilities, and I have no choice but to listen to the drama and find ways to deal with it. It sucks!

I have a very low tolerance for stress and tend to do things that are not good for me when I’m upset. I cry a lot, too. I need to learn to sort through all of this without losing my s**t.

The program is mandatory?
If so, wow, I'm sorry.

Try these:

1. Meditation. Many instructional documents and videos on the Internet.
2. Exercise.
3. Hobby outside your educational program.
4. Cultivate 1-2 good friendships.

These are all known to be stress busters. Best of luck!
