Im drinking right now. I got a little extra money this month so I can afford it. Ive been drinking a lot this month. Wish I knew how to save my money better. I hate how I feel neurotypical when Im drinking but when sober I feel anxiouse and depressed. Very uptight. I wonder if theres a way not to feel so uptight when sober. I alreay meditate and that helps a little. But yeah Ive been drinking and I feel so clear minded. I really should be putting my money to better uses because I dont have much of it. Any suggestions?

If you feel like you have to drink do it at home because it is a lot more expensive in bars. And when you buy alcohol make sure you are getting a great alcohol to price ratio in order to save money as well. But you should try to not drink often, only during times when you really feel like you need it.

Drinking has that effect on many people. I can understand you wanting not to feel anxious.

I would try to stop. Being an alcoholic (which is possible with consistent alcohol intake) is risky. My grandfather died of cirrhosis of the liver, something almost always caused by alcohol.

I dont know what it feels like to need to drink, but, I imagine it's pretty powerful if it's difficult to choose to save your money, as opposed to buying alcohol, and I'm sorry you are experiencing this. Is there anything you can think of that you could replace the alcohol with? Meditation is helpful to me, as well, however, not when I am experiencing an extreme bout with anxiety. The most helpful antidote I have found, is vigorous exercise, for example, sprinting, even if a very short distance. Running and swimming are my go to remedies as they release endorphins to the extent that I can literally feel as though I'd never experienced anxiety in the first place. This is just a suggestion, of course. I know this may not solve your difficulty with saving money, but, perhaps it could contribute in a way. All the best to you...

Sorry you dont feel too good. Can i suggest you write on a piece of paper how much you spend on alcohol every time you do it, and the date you buy it? After a week or two you could see how much you spend.

When you get in a pattern you tend to overlook the details. I used to be an alcoholic and was never getting anywhere financially. I have savings now and nice things I buy like a trash can in the kitchen with a motion activated lid and a really comfy reclining chair. Giving up alcohol except for Christmas and parties helped my savings a lot.

For depression and anxiety, have you thought of trying a yoga class? My friend is a yoga teacher and she tells me most people who do yoga are more sensitive so you might find them more understanding than some people. That social contact could maybe help you feel better and more confident and the yoga movements might help you relax.

I'm trying a yoga class for the first time on Friday.

Ive been spending about $ 60 a month on alchohol. Which is a lot when your on social assistance. It would help with bordom if I had a friend but I find it difficult to make friends. Never thought about trying yoga. Ill think about it.

What do you drink? Maybe you can make your own booze.

I was spending at least $60 per week on alcohol for a rather lengthy period not terribly long ago. Suffice to say, that had to stop.

You are wise to be concerned about your alcohol consumption. I know what it feels like to drink to feel better, kill the pain, etc. Get a handle on it now before you get to the stage I was at. It's not a fun place to be, and it was not easy giving it up when it becomes your life blood.

If you really don't know what you're doing, making your own booze could be like making your own poison.

Many people were poisoned during prohibition from home-made hooch. And even if it wasn't lethal, much of it was pretty nasty tasting, which is how mixed drinks came to be invented.

I should have not used the word booze. Wine would be a more apt term. Yeast + sugary beverage = intoxicating drink; of which, non-lethal recipes abound. Use at your own risk :skull:

Actually I used to make my own prison hooch and it never bothered me. It was a cheap way to get drunk. I made it with a packet of yeast instead of bread. Making my own wines sounds like an interesting idea. I think ill stick to buying my own wine instead. Im just going to cut back on drinking. It was the holidays. Thats my excuse.

Cheap whiskey is $10 a bottle. So I could see spending much more then 60 a month. My ex friend would spend $100 ish a week on alcohol and that was just the hard stuff. He’d also buy a lot of alcohol beverages from convenient stores though out the week i dont know how much they cost.
