I have been seeing a therapist for about 5 months now. She thought that I might be on the spectrum and did all the referral work for testing for me and I was diagnosed with ASD. She recently moved offices from one that was in walking distance from my home to one fairly far away. So much so I can only see her every 2 weeks versus every week. At my last session she mentioned that she can refer me to someone else that is closer when I said no thats ok, she quoted their prices. She really seemed to want me to see someone else. I was also introduced through her to someone else who had an ASD client for group therapy. We had one session. The other therapist texted me and said that the ASD client wanted to dropout since the drive was too much for him. I would have met them where they choose or half-way someplace I wasn't demanding they come to me all the time! I'm not sure what I did or said, it all seems to come after I received a formal diagnosis.

From what you've written, I sense that your therapist doesn't want to get rid of you.

She wants you to see someone closer, and she wants you to see someone more frequently than you see her.

I get that but it just seems odd that she does that and then I get dropped by her colleague the same week.

Are you still seeing the first therapist?

Please don't feel "rejected." My mother is a therapist, and she "rejects" people all the time. It's because she already has too many "clients."

There could be many reasons why a therapist "rejects" you.
