First it was a pandemic, then it was war, so naturally because horrible things always come in bunches, the next thing will be another Great Depression. The US itself treats basic needs like luxuries, luxuries like necessities and poor and homeless people like trash, so why shouldn't it happen? Of course, that's if the nukes don't kill us all first.

Some religious-type people believe that babies leave Heaven to be born on Earth. What a joke.

Actually, Great Depression ended after WWII.
A deep shake of the whole society and economy can have some healing effect.

As someone that's already below the poverty line and would be homeless without his mother, I guess I'm gonna be immune to any financial hardships that are on the horizon. (I think I have pathological optimism now that I think about it.) "Oh no, my stocks are gone." I kinda don't have any socks, dude. I'm lucky that it's so hot here. "Oh no, I have to sell my second house." A caravan is mansion to me, dude.

I kinda wear being poor as a badge of honor though, one that I don't want to throw out (not that I can). Hillbilly cynic (cynicism) is my thing.

I thought the pandemic would have caused a big recession of some sort (like in 2008), but it doesn't seem to be. Everyone I know are still in their jobs and there seems to be jobs out there.

I can definitely see a housing market burst on the way but a full on recession/depression is difficult to predict. Hopefully we're headed toward change for the better

There are a lot of religious people around me who don't fear global warming, because they think they're going to Heaven. These are farmers, too. I can never understand the worship of Creator while disregarding creation.

The whole 'horrible things come in bunches' is obviously a nonsense statement, but the possibility of there being a large market correction - triggered by interest rates increasing to deal with cost-push inflation - leading to recession is a very real concern. I don't want to cause undue concern, but if you are living with your parents and they are retired then you could take quite a hit because retirees will face a particular issue in a high inflation-falling stock market world.

News: UK just raised interest rates again. A trend in Western economies at the moment.
