I've got a doctor's appointment next week to check out my infected tonsils. They've been infected for almost three months and medicine hasn't done anything so I'm afraid the doctor will say that they need to be removed. I texted my mom that and she says she should probably be there at the appointment. I didn't tell her no but I can't help but feel a bit worried. I'm turning 26 in three months and I still need my mom there to talk to the doctor for me. Part of me wants to tell her to stay home and let me handle myself like a grownup. The other part tells me I have aspergers and can't understand these kinds of things like "normal" people do so if she's not there to help me I'll just screw things up. What do you guys think? Is it bad for me to still need my parents for things like this?

I think you could probably handle the appointment on your own. Sooner or later, you'll have to do adult things without a mother's help. On this occasion, or another soon, you might try going it alone and see how it goes. You can write down your symptoms, problems, issues ahead of time so you know what words to use. The doctor pretty much shapes what happens in the visit, anyway.

I'm sorry you've been sick and hope it turns out OK for you.

It is bad but I am the same. I had an appointment the other day and took my dad with me, when I first registered at my new GP she was talking to me about a blood test I got confused thinking she wanted me to go next year or something but I think she wanted me to go that day or the next day. I think you just have to do whats best for you.
