Anyone else have math skills worse than a 4th grader.

Seriously that is what I have, I absolutely suck at math...even with multiple attempts at tutoring. I've just never been able to get it...it was always my dreaded subject in school because my head literally hurts when I try. I mean now-days most math I need to do I can just use a calculator so that is helpful...but I mean it still bothers me, I even got made fun of in school sometimes because I couldn't do math. Just frustrating because I tried and tried and tried and well IDK I just cannot get it for some reason. But also I was good in other subjects just not math so that always reduced my over-all grades because my usual math class grade ranged between a D and C. No As or Bs usually.

Fortunately I don't know any fourth graders and have lost my fourth grade math books, so I can't test that.

But yeah, I suck at math and might struggle with fourth grade math if I had to do it.

I can add. And multiply easy things. Other than that, I'm clueless when it comes to math.

I am at algebra level. Math is pretty easy. I had to catch up from 4th or 5th grade level to get to where I am at now. I am at the level where you multiply polynomials. I quit though because it is too stressful with NT's all around.

I failed math but got average or above average on other subjects.

Math has been a bane for me all of my life. I couldn't get past basic algebra in school and it played a big part in ruining the college experience for me. I believe I have a form of dyscalculia but my parents just thought I wasn't interested in the math and jammed it down my throat.

One usually doesn't have to go beyond basic algebra in college if one wants to pursue a liberal arts major.

Yes, I'm terrible at math. I can't even get past pre-algebra, which is a reason I never finished my degree towards becoming an RN, so I'm stuck as an LPN.

I am a disaster at math too, always have been, and found an RN degree program where I didn't have to take Algebra. I managed to breeze through it taking basic remedial math and as long as you can work out the drug calculations you pass.

Algebra is useless, unless you're taking engineering or mathematics.

I don't believe there is even application for physics.

I think the basic idea of math courses (aside from basic math - add, subtract, etc.) is to teach the student how to learn and then apply an abstract concept. It also helps keep the math teachers employed. But no one is ever going to need to know Algebra. It's more useful to teach students to be comfortable with numeracy like being able to understand statistics and percentages.

Yep me. Literally only a 3rd grade ability due to dyscalculia.

I dunno. I have a complex love-hate relationship with math. Always got lousy grades at it, but do seem to have a good instinct for mathematical thinking anyway.

Its not that I'm bad at math, but I f*****g hate it. I would rather kill myself than do another math problem.

Math was my strongest subject in school

SAT math 710 (out of 800)

SAT verbal 590

In college got up to Math 20e Vector Analysis

Flunked the first two Calculus classes, one time each

Math 20e flunked three times

Then flunked out of Structural engineering

Emotionally distrubing

Thirteen years ago and still obsessed about it

Daily

At that time, gorged a lot

In one quarter, gained fifteen pounds

I feel so ashamed

Close to it. I can't even do simple math anymore with all the brainfog I have. Was always a 60's student, mainly I struggled with math homework because I found it so repetitive and boring. I also struggled with math word problems, applying what I learned to real life situations because of the way I learned.
