* Notice 1 *
This thread is not meant to force religion on anyone, lets respect everyone's beliefs.

* Notice 2 *
I didn't feel like this belongs in PPR despite the religious overtones due to the goal of this thread being encouraging and not to start a debate. I would be in favor of ignoring posts that debate religion.

* Notice 3 *
I respect and read a diverse library of scripture from a wide range of religions but this is intended to only include the christian bible. I believe subject matter from other religions documents would warrent a new thread.

I'll start,

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. - Proverbs 3:5-6

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. - Psalm 55:22

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. - Matthew 5:8

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. - Revelation 21:4-8

dcj123, I am sure you posted that here with the best of intentions, though in terms of the Haven's special guildelines, it is on the borderline of acceptablity in this forum:

3. The Haven.
The Haven is protected more than any other forum on this site, so if someone is in distress and posts there it is for help and support from other members, not to debate with him/her about their religion or atheism. Trying to persuade an atheist to pray to God or Jesus for support is not appropriate in the Haven..

Anyone thinking of posting a reply is urged not to cross the line and become a proselytiser for any specific religion. You can do that in PPR, up to a point, though some rules apply to that too. Caution advised. It is a good thing to offer encouragement, and I like to see this on WP, though there are sensitivities which apply to framing this in terms of any particular religion.

Duly noted, I encourage only the inclusion of bible verses in posts.

Sometimes you can find inspiring Bible verses that don't even mention God or Jesus. One example is Romans 12:21 "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Sometimes we need to remember that even though bad things happen in this world, we can all do something, even if it is small, to make the world a better place.

Fair enough about not mentioning God, I am in complete support of being civil but I would like to point out this wasn't my idea. It has been brought up several times and even Skilpadde agreed that PPR couldn't handle the maturity of this thread.

Third post down,

I am ok with moving this to In-Depth Adult Life or Members Only as Skilpadde suggested. I would respectful disagree with this threads inability to exist but you can move it wherever. Just so you know though, I think we both know what is going to happen in this thread if you move it to PPR.

This will be my last post to debate the matter, I respect whatever decision.

Well if you think about it, it is pretty obvious from the title what this thread is, and if people aren't interested in that they can just not click on it. But I guess for some people even thinking about religion might stress them out. So I guess I can see both sides.

Joshua 1:9 Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Also, this poem has always brought tears, to my eyes:

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?”

The Lord replied,
"During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

^ I have that on my wall,

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. - Matthew 5:11

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. - Jeremiah 29:11

Like Pollyanna looking for the glad texts.

Isaiah 40

Quote:

20 He strengthens those who are weak and tired.
30 Even those who are young grow weak;
young people can fall exhausted.
31 But those who trust in the Lord for help
will find their strength renewed.
They will rise on wings like eagles;
they will run and not get weary;
they will walk and not grow weak.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: For thou art with me... (23rd Psalm - KJ version)

I forgot to comment on this..... That is one of my most favorite movies, of all-time!! I own it, have watched it MANY times, and regardless of how many times I've seen it, it STILL chokes-me-up!! It's so wonderful to meet someone who knows the story, as I don't believe I've ever met someone else, who did!!

I am of the opinion that we try and be as scriptural exclusive as we can at least until I am confident this thread won't get derailed. However please do share movie in Random cause I don't know what one your talking about.

As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. - John 9:1-3

"And I will confirm My covenant with you: Never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth."

Isaiah 41:13: For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, "Do not fear; I will help you".
