What keeps me going at the moment is this dream I have that at some point in the next two years I will have my life at a stage where I can walk away from it. I fantasize about leaving everything behind and going some where far away, living in a shak near a beach and becoming a recluse. I know I would still need to work but not as much if I reduced my outgoings. Or perhaps I could work half the year and have the other half off. Maybe I'd even be able to buy a bit of land to put my shak on so I could put a fence round it and keep the world out. I have a lot to do to get to that point... But it's my goal. I will spend my time dazing and relaxing and not being overwhelmed by life.

I've had these sorts of feelings at various points in my life.

I identify with you.

I go to India and head for empty beaches and the mountains. I find the people quite easy to be around too. Good luck with your plans.

I might try this. I've never been to India.

I'm going to pack my bags and ride somewhere on bicycle. I worked all summer and the days are getting shorter but I'm going to head off with a tent and look out for places to camp at the end of each day. I'm going to go to India again too and maybe stay in Tibetan settlements.

I feel like it would be easier to be a recluse in the forest, rather than at the beach...but maybe our beaches are a little different from yours.

Do you ever go into the forest and have a fire or sleep?

Not very often, but I have before.

I don't think I ever did alone, by myself, though.

Come to think of it, I've had fires and slept at the beach, as well.

...or at least tried to sleep...sleeping arrangements were too uncomfortable for me that night, so I just sat on the beach, watched Mackinac Bridge, and prayed.

if it wasn't for my health condition that requires constant medication that depends on my current health service to provide free prescriptions, then I would have left and gone wherever i wanted without consequence at leaving age. I don't require friends, family or people to live the way I want, i can survive (or die) however I want.
