Have found out today that my father has been hospitalised after suffering a severe stroke. He is now pretty much paralyzed on the right side of his body and is apparently having trouble verbalising his thoughts.

He's an old man - 85 - but has been in fairly good health prior to this. No-one in the family was expecting it. Am sleepless from worry, as is my mother.

Most who have a stroke do recover some function.
The therapists in the Stroke Unit are very good at what they do.

I'm sorry for your trouble.
May your father, your family, and yourself be free of suffering and at peace.

Thank you for the kind replies. Apparently he is now out of the medically induced coma that the hospital had to put him in and is responding, albeit with difficulty. Am going to go and visit my mother this weekend as it's a struggle for her too.
