I love my job, I love the place, and I love the other people...well, all except 3.

One of them is a girl with diagnosed personality disorder and she's so hard work. One day she's crying and goes home sick, the next day she comes bursting in full of beans. She stands around talking to the other annoying 2, and is always on her phone, but if the boss says anything she flies up in a rage and threatens to leave. She gets all tearful if there is any change, like if she's got to do something she doesn't normally do. But, like I said, the next day she'd be messing about with the other 2. One of them is her boyfriend and she climbs all over him (only if she's in one of her good moods), and he is loud and cocky and giggles all the time (even though he's about 30). In the staff area the 3 of them act like primary school kids; throwing things, giggling and pushing each other, which is really annoying when I want to try and complete my paperwork. But when she's in one of her angry, depressed moods, she sits there with a face like thunder and won't take any jokes or silliness, and she puts an atmosphere on the whole place, which is naturally such a laid-back place.
I'm finding that I'm asking the boss for more work to do because I'm tired of sitting in the staff room with those louts, and there's not really anywhere else to go on your break (it's mostly an outside job so if you don't have any work to do for a few minutes you can sit in the staff area because it's sometimes too cold to stand about outside).
I don't like to say anything to the others about them because I feel like I'm bitching, and because they're all men I don't think they really get emotionally involved. But I can't help being affected by this stupid girl and her moods and her boyfriend and his friend messing about all the time. They really do act like 10-year-olds, and when grown adults start acting childish in the workplace, I believe they are sometimes capable of bullying. I really hope it doesn't come to that.

Just thought I'd have a rant. I really wish at least one of the louts will leave, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen any time soon because they've all got it too easy here.

ya they sound like dangerous. like the sort of dangerous that would not notice they had hurt somebody during their games. i would feel awfully insecure and unsafe in that surrounding. (tho, if they are kept on the job, are they good at it or what?)

Every job and every workplace has pluses and minuses. Try to remember that when you are feeling irritation. This is an opportunity for you to practice focusing on the things that are good, even when the bad things are competing for your attention. Over a period of years, you can get skillful at that, and it's a useful coping skill to have.

I just can't always help 'feeling' other people's emotions. When she's not here, the whole place is more relaxed.
