Not to diminish your intellectual position but I'd say you're the only actually conservative WP member I run into normally. Most of the other right wing people I've seen on here lately are neo-conservative zealots, who seemingly aren't concerned with old school GOP reasoning.

I think you should base your politics on what you honestly think instead of fixating on the popularity of a given idea.

I’m not conservative but I had expected they’d atleast reply to my post in ppr.
I got worse then what I could have expected from the liberal members here.

Im sorry that my question on your other thread set people off. If it helps, I’m a Conservative, but the Canadian variety. I could never be in favour of total freedom with firearms, in particular handguns, but I disagree with stringent controls on long guns. And yes, I shoot. So, I’m sorry.

About them thinking I shouldn’t own guns cause I get sad sometimes?

Under the proposed laws no one will be able to shoot so it’s worse laws then Canada or California.

Do you post just to get responses, or do you post to share your ideas?

The former tends to wear out after a while, as people get used to it. The latter (I've found) actually gets more thought-filled responses.

This is aside from the fact that using "Conservative" and "Liberal" as labels is bound to stir up negative feelings. But when used properly these words are merely descriptive.

For instance, a person could be fiscally conservative and socially liberal -- they don't like spending money needlessly, and they don't like racism, sexism, and other discriminatory practices.

A person's beliefs are not their identity; people are much more complex than that.

My believes are libertarian mixed with conservative with a hint of liberal, so you aren't alone Sly. What are your believes on capitalism, because to me capitalism is what helps build country compared to communism? I mean to be honest I don't like the idea of being fit in a mold and expected happiness from it. True, a fat pet dog can live a happier life than a free starving wolf, but a human being is more than just a dog and a wolf at least in my own personal view I don't know how the others feel about that. Try to look at it this way, you are doing something admirable by living with your family as an adult and that is you are taking care of them while they are aging by doing the chores for them and doing the things they struggle with. However, despite saying that, I would like to have some independence and enjoy the night life with dates with attractive women like a lot of aspie men would.

Then there's the old saying that "A conservative is someone who has recently been mugged, and a liberal is someone who has recently been arrested". Simplistic metaphors, but reasonably accurate.

I don't think pro-gun people in the US have anything to worry about. Guns have always been a huge part of American culture and it always will be, no matter what.

Not that because you get sad sometimes, but because when you mentioned that people might spill blood if gun and ammo possession gets restricted, I was shocked. You addressing my shock caught people’s attention and some of them were pretty rough on you. If I hadn’t asked you about it, probably no one else would have commented. So I’m sorry that my question started it.

Getting sad sometimes isn’t much of a reason to restrict firearm ownership, but if someone’s emotions are so volatile that they would shoot someone rather than accept laws change I think then it’s good that they don’t have guns.

If I let you have your car but no gas what use is it?
If I say you have rights but can’t use them what use are rhey?

My state plans to ban mags over 5 rounds thus making all guns useless, they plan to limit ammo to 20 rounds a month making it impossible to shoot,
This single bill does a bunch of other stuff
And they also have 14 other horrible anti gun bills theh going push though. They want to make Oregon worse then any other state for gun rights and most other nations.

What good is a car if I can't drive all the way across the country on one tank?

I'm an American Conservative. I want Americans to conserve the progress that was being made under the Obama Administration.

This. Exactly this.

Sly, your post was the sort of post that gets reported to law enforcement agencies to investigate to see if you're an actual threat to yourself or others. It's the kind of post that enforces the stereotype that Aspies are violent and shouldn't be trusted with firearms.
