I'll be 29 next month, and my last year in my 20s will go so quick that my 30th birthday will soon be looming. I don't want to be 30. Not because of my life, but because of who I am.

I have ADHD and sometimes my lack of attention span, impulsivity and hyperactivity can make me look 'childlike' at times. Yesterday at work I had one of my 'ADHD moments', and one of the workers said, "you wouldn't think you're 28". Also I love teddy bears and I get mesmerized by bright colours. So I just know that as soon as I reach 30 people are going to be going, "you're 30! Try to act like it!"

30 is just too old for my ADHD/ASD brain. I want to stay in my 20s forever. Where has the time gone?
I am a responsible adult though. I know how to keep a relationship, I pay bills, I am independent, I go to work, I make decisions, I'm friends with mature people, etc etc.
But I can come across as my head in the clouds, or can be hyper based on impulsivity. I feel that the older I get the more my quirks will be pointed out more.

I'll be celebrating turning 25 for the 7th time this year. Nothing much changes.

Aging means giving up childish ways, it's okay to be delighted by innocent joys as long as you're not being a child about them. Enjoying stuffed animals for instance, nowadays I'd say it's even common among NTs. I have some stuffed animals and I think they're pretty neat to collect. Enjoying bright colors? lol everyone does, nobody wants overcast grey weather.

But around age 30 is where women begin to want to settle down, so there is a biological clock going on in their heads. You can't wait on having kids forever, furthermore, the more you wait, the more you diminish your chances to enjoy grandchildren. So this is a clock that is starting to come online.

I'd settle for 40 right about now.

I'd like to be 23 again. 23 was my best year.

It's been downhill ever since!

Eh, my godmother turned 60 last year. She collects teddy bears and wears clothes with bright colors. As far as I know, no one complains to her about those... so maybe you're in the clear, too. And if you're not, then so what? Would strangers and acquaintances thinking you're too childlike for your age really affect your life too much? I mean of course it can be a problem if your boss or coworkers think that, but other than that, does it really affect you?

Oh and it's not like I don't get comments about my weird (or so I hear) way of dressing and the fact that I collect comics and other not-so-adult stuff, but meh, I don't really care what strangers think. And I'm fine with the people I care about thinking of me as a weirdo too as long as they accept me the way I am.

Who doesn't? 20's or younger.

I have wondered about that for about 20 years and yet time just seems to fly by ever faster.

I wouldn't be so concerned about that, I mean its also possible the older you get the more people will figure you're 'set in your ways' and just accept those quirks come with you. If you are a responsible adult in the ways you mention then I don't think you have much to worry about as far as needing to act more 'adult'.

Personally, I found turning 60 enlightening. I decided I no longer have to explain myself to anybody. If anyone tries to point out my quirks to me they can f*** off... they're my quirks and I spent a lot of time working on them.
I'd never had a teddy bear, so I bought a Steiff bear. He's sitting here now... say hello, Rory!

I'll be turning 30 next year, not sure why my profile here on Wrong Planet says I am 29.

Wearing bright colours isn't childish. When I say I like bright colours, I mean I like brightly-coloured plastic objects. I love to have a look in toy shops, just to see all the brightly-coloured toys.

Teddy bears are OK to collect, but I've often been criticised for the way I love teddy bears. I have a strange bond with my oldest teddy bear, and he has to stay in the bed no matter what. My boyfriend thinks my love for teddy bears is cute, but even he once murmured, "they're all right for little children.."

I get offended when people tell me to "grow up" or something.

When I said I had a teddy bear... erm... I have other stuffed toys as well. Not loads, but enough, including a donkey (Oatie) who lives in the bed. I also have a load of Thunderbirds stuff. I really don't care what other people think... nor should you (I hope).

I didn't care too much, but since my coworker said what she said (see OP), it has kind of made me stop and think how foolish I must sometimes look like at work.
