I can't change my username. I made the mistake of using my real name as my username.

I can't take anything down that needs to be taken down. Everything is stuck up forever.

I can't have an inappropriate reply to my post taken down or hidden.

I can't even delete my account!! !

Why does WrongPlanet have all of these restrictions? I thought this would be a SAFE place, but it's not as safe as it looks! Let's make it so WrongPlanet will let us change our username, take down our posts that have replies on them and even delete our account if we need to!

Although you cannot change your username, I believe you can hide your actual identity by selecting a "Nickname" and then by selecting your nickname as "Display name publicly as".

Generally when you post something, two boxes show up. One is "Edit" the other is "X". The edit box allows you to change what you have posted. The "X" box allows you to delete a thread. But these two boxes will only display for a few hours and then the thread is locked.

If you have an inappropriate rely to your post, then the rely can be deleted if you report it. But it must break the rules of the website in order to be considered inappropriate. Here is a link to the rules: WrongPlanet Rules. You Must Read This Before Posting.

Contact a moderator through PM - you find them here: https://wrongplanet.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=237032 and explain your predicament. You'll get the help you need.

I regret my username too, as it sounds too masculine, and also I've had a personal attack by a member here before about my username being a guy's name.

But at least my real name isn't Joe. Nobody here knows what my real name is.

I don't like the number of my posts being shown to the public, but I can't find a way to hide it. I don't want people knowing how many posts I have written. One time I was doubting my AS diagnosis and I got a reply saying "after 1600+ posts here I don't see how you can be doubtful of your diagnosis". They had a point, but...that's not the point. :P

I confess I used to mistake you for a guy until I checked the information... after that I assumed that "Joe" would be short for "Joanna" or something similiar. Was it just a random choice?

I think it was from some TV show.

I've never known a forum where a member could do that on their own.

What you looking to take down? You can always remove various information from your profile. There is a time window in which you can remove a post you made. Unless you were to make special request yes, most things are stuck. This is the internet, we must always use a level of discretion with what we put out there.

This is a forum not a YouTube channel. You might start a thread but you don't have any 'ownership' of it, in terms of what is posted. That kind of thing is jurisdiction of the Moderators. It's their job to 'police' such things. If they haven't seen it, then you may report the post. Someone will take a look to see if it violates forum rules and decide how to deal with it.

This typically has to do with the particular board set up. There are some boards that allow this and others that do not. This one doesn't and its not something that can necessarily change without getting a new forum type.

As forums go it is pretty safe. But as I said this is still the internet and much of what you post is public. Generally everything you're asking for is done by requesting it from a Moderator. There needs to be reasonable cause though. You can't go requesting a bunch of threads you made be removed because you just don't want them anymore.

There's some but the vast majority won't so I don't know why that is brought up.

Making a mistake is acceptable, but attacking a member for having the 'wrong' username is unacceptable (not saying you did it by the way, I think the member who attacked me for it isn't here any more  ).
I didn't plan on being a member here, I just signed up on the spur of the moment because I wanted to reply to one thread. My mum used to call a person she knew 'Joe90' as a nickname, and I thought that was funny, so that was the first thing that popped into my head as I was signing up here.

This is the only inherently "dangerous" thing you mentioned, and it is not even a feature of this website. As for the rest, follow the previous replies in this thread and (1) read the rules before posting again, and (2) contact the moderators to resolve the other issues.

Oh, and welcome aboard!

Wait. Joe90 is not your real name?

Mountain Goat is not my real name either. Haha!

Alexa. I was thinking. Have you asked a moderator about it? Maybe they can help?

Why not create a new account using a different username, and not return to this account? It's probably the next best thing to do.

That's called "Sockpuppetry", and it's against the rules. The first account would have to be re-assigned a random password by a moderator before Alexa could create a new account.

On second thought, if she privately told the moderators that she was creating a new account and requested they "lock" her old one, that might work, too.

Ha! There are a few members with lots of posts where I doubt their diagnosis. Post count is in no way a predictor of ASD.
