Two voices I keep hearing in my head

Throughout my daily existence, I keep hearing two different voices in my head constantly. These are not auditory hallucinations, just thoughts that my mind keeps vocalizing.

One is of my redneck stepfather. My mother loves redneck men and this is her fourth husband. He is an ardent Trump supporter, NRA member, sexist, racist, and homophobe. He also thinks Oklahoma City is the true live music capital of the world and hates Austin since his musical palette is very narrow and he thinks Austin has become “Californicated”. Whenever I am trying to do something I enjoy, I hear his voice praising Trump and saying other stupid crap.

The other voice is from a detractor on another forum. He is part of the incel culture except that he is married. He says he married a Filipina woman because Western women are “sluts” in his eyes and wanted a wife from a culture where women are raised to be subservient to men. Despite that, he still lives in the US though not the Bible Belt but surprisingly the very liberal New England area and loves Donald Trump. He thinks secularism is “perverse” as well as “dangerous” and wants a theocracy where atheism is punished by caning. Whenever I fail to make friends or get a girlfriend through secular avenues, his voice rings in my head even though growing up in a religious environment did not lead to social success.

I know one WP regular with a Philippina wife but he despises Trump... nevermind.

I know what you are talking about because my mother is a first-sort detractor-defeatist. Getting rid of her voice telling me I'm doing everything wrong and everything I do is worthless (she has the same issue with herself) took me years of therapy and I think there is still some of it inside me but it has lost its power.

The most important part of getting rid of it was realization that it is something outside me, something I don't need to embrace. My life choices are not my mother's business. I don't need to please her or hate her or prove her wrong. I just need to live my life.

I know it sounds easy when said, but in reality coming to this conclusion took me two years of therapy (with the right therapist, the previous two didn't help).

The person who loves Trump is just ridiculous. He thinks scientists are lying to his face about evolution being true which is stupid because these supposed scientists don’t even know him personally. He praises creationists like Kent Hovind and thinks atheism has killed people. Despite his love for Trump, he still lives in a liberal area instead of moving to the Bible Belt. Some of his cohorts, though, want to move to the Bible Belt because they think it will be an utopia where all women are subservient and perform oral sex on command to them. What they don’t get is that even Bible Belt women will reject men who don’t fit a certain mold.

My mother hates how women in Muslim countries tend to be treated but she accepts redneck men telling her to “Shut up, b***h!”, shouting “Woo hoo!” at her, and she won’t even try to protect herself if a man physically hurts her because she thinks women are always weaker than men. She also doesn’t seem to mind how redneck men molest young girls, especially if they are church pastors. How is that any different than Sharia Law? She does, however, think it’s ok to talk down and sabotage me despite the fact I am a male.

Just don't listen to the voices.

I don't listen to voices who tell me I'm a loser. Because I know I'm not a loser.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who has that attitude toward or opinion of women is a sociopath and is not worth your consideration.

You see, Mark, you definitely have very hard time ignoring opinions that would be best ignored.

I’ve always had obsessive thoughts since I was a child but I’ve never been diagnosed with OCD.

I want to prove my redneck stepfather and that incel jerk wrong. The former wants me to be a clone of him and the latter thinks I am an “angry bitter secularist”.

I am glad I became a secularist instead of staying a complacent and brainwashed sap. On the forum the detractor is from, there’s a guy who is so distraught for not having sex in his teens that he hopes when he dies God will grant his wish to travel back in time to have sex as a teenager before going to Heaven. In Heaven, he hopes God will make him look “English or Irish” instead of “Jewish” and he hopes Heaven will have orgies. Not only are his fantasies outlandish, Christianity frowns on sex if it’s not within marriage or for pumping out babies so even if there was a Heaven, it wouldn’t be a sex party.

So, being a secularist is your own choice you are content with. Great!
Your other "detractor" seems so ridiculously wrong that there is nothing to prove.
Time to master ignoring opinions of people you don't respect

My redneck stepfather thinks Iceland’s president welcoming Mike Pence with rows of Rainbow flags is “fake news”. Everything is “fake news” to him unless it’s Fox News.

The other moron said that he’s glad he has a child now and that he’s gotten back at those who called him a loser. Truthfully, I wish I could prove those who called me a loser wrong as well.
