My family and I live in Santa Clarita, California. I currently attend college in Columbia, Missouri, and I was in one of my classes when I got a news notification about the Santa Clarita shooting. I was terrified because, at the time, I didn't know which high school was attacked. Luckily, it wasn't at my sister's high school, but I'm still shaken up by it. What happens if the next shooting isn't just "a close one"? I can't imagine going to school the day after a shooting and acting like everything's ok. I don't know how to feel about all of this. I'm just angry and sad.

I drove past something of that nature with my roommate about a week ago.

It's cool your family's OK anyway. :)

All I really know about this is that we can't help anyone by worrying.

Why are there always school shootings happening in America?

That's a conversation that might get too political for the Haven.

^ Yes, please avoid those topics here in Haven.

That said, lucgn01, I'm glad your sister is okay.

I don't know how not to be bothered by it. It's scary when such things happen. I know, we've had our share of terror here in Europe which amounts to the same thing really. It's scary and it's easy to be paralyzed into inaction.
Likelihood is it won't affect you personally, but you never know for sure, because it also could. It's the luck of the draw.

You don't have to go to school the day after and pretend all is okay. It's certainly more than acceptable to be shaken up when people are killed just for living their lives.
