It seems to me that there's a life-threatening danger to humans out there and it is not COVID. It's more like some sort of radiation in the air that is causing middle-aged people to have random heart attacks. It's just what it seems and I am freaking out.

In the last 3 years I have known 5 different people to die from a heart attack, and they were all middle-aged (as in not elderly). I think 4 of these people smoked but one of them didn't. They were just healthy people living normal lives, then all of a sudden they drop dead from a heart attack.

Another middle-aged person I know (a bloke at work) dropped dead last week after he got home from work, and he was tested negative for COVID, and they reckon it was a heart attack.

Why does this keep happening? My boyfriend smokes and he's middle-aged, what if he's next? Or someone who's healthier, like an aunt of mine or my dad? People didn't used to drop dead from heart attacks like this when I was growing up and in my younger 20s, only elderly people we knew who died from old age.

And in these last few months when COVID has been around, I've known 8 different people who got tested positive for COVID, and they weren't all young and healthy, and yet they survived it and didn't even get hospitalised.

What they ought to do is save lives by banning the selling of any tobacco, as that is what kills not only smokers but can even kill secondhand smokers, which can be babies and even animals.

I am freaking out right now. What if I'm next? I'm 30 now, coming towards middle-aged. It's so terrifying.

Remind them that vaporizers exist...

It not easy on cardiovascular tissues being borderline hypoxic for part of every day.

Did these people eat a diet full of sugar and/or sodium, and did they exercise regularly/have active jobs and lives? Years of bad diet and inactivity seem to be the proposed reasons for all the heart attacks and cardiovascular issues middle aged people are having. Maybe that could explain why that happened, and it was just unfortunate that it all happened so close to each other?

I'm very sorry you and those close to you have had to go through this, though. Maybe it would be comforting if you and your partner got your cardiovascular health checked, just see if you're at risk for any issues.

It could be from toxic pesticides in tobacco and also maybe these people are doing coke or some other illegal drugs. It is pandemic. Maybe coffee. Things getting mixed together. A whole repertoire of intake. First of all, an embolus (blood clot) causes the heart attack - one would have to research what is causing these emboli to form. Covid makes holes in the lungs, a person can recover but is left with holes. I don't know what the heart/lung connection is but there is one.
If a person smokes with a defective lung, could this affect the heart?? Can a lung repair and make an emboli from the repair? Sort of like a scab but moving through the blood stream. I know bone fragments can cause heart attacks - maybe this is the same?

I don't know much about their eating habits as I wasn't close to them, but I knew they weren't obese or anything.

This sounds like a good idea, especially for my boyfriend. He doesn't lead the healthiest lifestyle, except he does eat healthy foods but he drinks the wrong stuff, doesn't exercise much, has sleep apnea, is overweight, and he smokes but won't quit or switch to vape. I've even brought him nicotine patches but he won't seem to use them. It's as though he's scared to let the tobacco go. So obviously he doesn't want to quit, and I know the stupid law in this over-free-country is not to tell a smoker to quit if they don't want to quit. (I mean, who on Earth wants to suffer an irritating smokers cough and have a high risk of developing life-threatening heart and lung diseases?) I don't see it as a choice, I see it as an addiction that grasps weak-willed people and the stores make it too easy to just walk in and buy cigarettes. One time I got offered a job at a customer service kiosk where they sell cigarettes, but I turned it down because I just couldn't happily feed people's foolish addiction.

Vaping: not a safe alternative to smoking, new study suggests, and it may be more harmful to health than tobacco in normal cigarettes

https://www.scmp.com/lifestyle/health-w ... y-suggests

I smoke five to eight cigarettes a day. I always avoid non-smokers when I can, even outdoors, and especially if young people are nearby. I would definitely be able to stave off the cravings [they last for months to years, I have been smoke free before, but always choose to go back] if this ridiculous country would just legalize cannabis. That helps me with anxiety AND the major pains I have in by back, neck, shoulders, and knees. I agree with what you say about addictions. I struggle with the morality of being a bartender, even to the point of suggesting to regular customers [who tip me quite well, and whose company I enjoy] that they ought to spend more time with their families, even if they came in to drink after having dinner with their children instead of coming to me right after work for a pint. I've never had a best friend, I don't date [or enjoy sexual relations], I really only have one close friend whom I rarely get to see in real life [we speak over the phone most days, though], I rarely drink alcohol, I don't like video games or movies, I avoid sugar and fatty snacks, I don't use drugs or take any medications, so I smoke a few each day because I enjoy it. I understand the risks, as I'm sure most who suffer from morbid obesity do when they eat extremely unhealthy processed foods. Obesity has been shown to be just as unhealthy as smoking, yet shaming those who suffer from it and choose to eat unhealthy food is unacceptable, and the idea of banning refined sugar [which is just as addictive as cocaine, it targets the same parts of the brain] and over-processed food is unheard of. Smokers aren't the only ones in this world with bad habits, and vaping is definitely not a healthier alternative to smoking, just saying. As others have commented, may other health issues and dietary choices can contribute to heart attacks, which are known to be even more fatal the younger the victim is.
