I accidentally turned on autodelivery for 20lb bags of cat food I don't need right now, so I put a post on FB I'm giving it away for the holidays for someone who has hungry kitties... And one of my friends totally bashes me for it saying my cat would eventually need it down the road and I'm doing the wrong thing...

I feel bad now??? I don't understand???

Don't worry about it. You're being less selfish than your friend and your friend is overreacting. Pat them on the head like they're a small child and get on with your day. Don't discuss the matter further with them or validate them in any way, don't get defence or argue and don't take them seriously even if they're being serious. And don't feel bad, it's your cat food and your prerogative on what gets done with it.

Why should the person get mad at that?

Like Funeral said....pat the person on the head and say, “there there....”

And tell the person to get a life....

Just ignore that person's negativity. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the kitties of your neck of the woods!

My best guess is that your friend is actually your friend.
I'm guessing he/she thinks you have made an illogical decision.
I have done things like this also.

I'm guessing your friend might be concerned you may be taken advantage of and some psychopath will take your gift and on-sell it.
Life experience tells me this is very possible. 8O
Ask him/her to explain, in greater detail, why they had a go at you.

Sounds like a minor upset. If your friend is truly your friend, they will get over this tiny upset.

Your friend may have been upset, as they may have expected you, being their friend, to have asked them first before you gave the cat food away to anyone.

If it was my friend, I would say to my friend that i was sorry for not considering him/her first, it was a bit thoughtless of me. I would also tell them if i have extra food again, then I will consider them first before offering it to someone else.

Real friends should forgive you and then go on back to normal.

If they do not, then perhaps they aren't real friends, and just a friend for what they can exploit from you (you do get these types, I have been plagued with such "friends" all my life, who are my friends to exploit me and once they have what they want, even if they have to steal it, then they fall out with me, and then stir up trouble with other people I know).

If your cat is anything like our youngest, it's a really bad idea to keep too much food around the place as he will figure out how to get into it and be sick.

I think your original idea was wonderful & charitable.

You can always buy more cat food when you're close to running out.

Angnix, what you did was splendid and wonderful. Hold that in your heart and let the light shine and warm your soul. What a blessing you are!

What you did was very kind, but let your friend know that overreacting was not a good thing to do.

Do you mean the OP has to ask their friend before they can do anything, or do you mean that their friend wanted cat food? What if the OP's friend doesn't have any cats?

The OP did nothing wrong, the friend might sound like one of the controling type but I could be wrong.
