Finally got an apartment. I think I’ll be broke but mom says it won’t be that much. It’s just I’m not used to paying bills so I’m not sure how much it’s gonna be. I’m going to see if I can get a job once I’m in.

An issue I’m having now is my medication. Kind of embarrassing to talk about but I get constipated easily from it, unless I have the perfect diet and take a fibre laxative everyday. So if I’m poor I’m not sure what will happen to my body. Perhaps I should talk about psychiatric drug problems in a forum more suited for such topics.

Anyway at least I got a place. The reality of that has yet to set in!

It's okay to talk about digestive issues here. Fiber laxative is not that expensive, is it? My husband and I both have to take it every day.

When you catch your breath, please tell us the route through which you got the apartment. It will help us better advise other Canadians needing housing assistance.

It actually wasn’t from the help of any organization. I just looked at an ad and called the landlord. Someone told me calling is more effective than just messaging. I hopefully will be getting a subsidy with the help from a charity place. I think I will get it. I’ve got someone advocating for me from that place.

Mom can help me along financially but I think it’s best if I try to work.

Will you get subsidized?

Since I have someone advocating for me from a charity I will most likely get the subsidy. Complaining a lot to these places probably helps. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. I was quite high on the low income housing wait list at the housing authority because I started complaining constantly about how bad my living situation was. But they haven’t called me about getting into a low income building so I just got the cheapest place I could find. I can still stay on the wait list though.

Well, this is how people with autism and other psychiatric issues gain independence: One big step at a time! As much as you have hated it where you are now (with good reason!), you are stronger because of it. Your new place may challenge you in different ways (including earning money to pay the rent), but you can learn and grow from those challenges, too.

Lol never threw a party that good tonight but dad mixed me a few drinks while I’m staying at their place for now. That video reminds me of my younger years when I was just getting out of high school.
Just a nerd that wanted to party. lol good times.

A few drinks? It's that permitted with your prescription drugs?

Even without any prescription drugs, women are advised to have only one standard drink a day (because they metabolize differently than men - who are advised to stick with two).

I've talked to my doctor, psychiatrist, nurses etc about my occasional drinking habits. The side effects sheet also said keep drinking to a minimum. So every once in a while I have a few. I do not drink often. But I did have to go to the doctor the other day about a kidney issue. He thinks I have a kidney infection or kidney stone. So you might be on to something...

Yeah I'm having all kinds of little health problems now because of this medication.
