Won't go to far away places even though I drive

The only places I have driven to from Kent are to Thurrock in Essex where my dad and Stepmum live and Southend on sea. Even though I drive I still find myself not going to anywhere further away than that. People have been talking about Glastonbury lately and I won't get myself to drive all the way down there. But I wouldn't go on my own and I don't know if I'd like all the slush and muck especially if it rains. Glastonbury doesn't really always have bands there I like so that's probably another reason I haven't gone. If I wanted to I could drive to somewhere like Chessington or Thorpe park but I still find myself going there on my own and I won't install a sat nav or look on Google maps to get there.

I feel as though I should have spent my 20s having a wild time having parties, getting wasted and going to hundreds of concerts on my own anyway and places in other countries. It feels like I'm the only one who has wasted my time. I have only been to 3 concerts with family and only been to theme parks with family and with the school and have only been abroad with the family and never on my own.

I'm the same. I only ever go far when it's for work and that's only very rarely.

I never see a need to drive far and I would rather save the fuel to drive multiple times locally.

How about printing out a mapquest set of directions or go totally old school and buy a map? Can you believe that was all we had for most of my life?!?!? Embrace google maps, or wayz, or any random gps - It's life changing!
I love to drive and have gone thousands and thousands of miles from home. If you have a reliable vehicle and money for gas you can do it too. Do they have rest areas on your highways? That is often where I take a break and sleep here in the USA. Of course some are lovely and some are awful but if you feel like you're in a sketchy spot, get back behind the wheel and drive some more. It's not always about the destination, sometimes its the journey.

I've only driven out to the country, where my parents live. It's a town called Collie and it takes about 2 hours to get there. I've also driven to Bunbury, a place 2.5 hours away. I had my honeymoon there. That's it. In Australia you pretty much need a packed lunch to go anywhere. I do like driving but my car isn't reliable. It's old and makes strange noises.

I go to far away places in my imagination.

What is stopping you driving? You don't feel confident? Or you worry that having driven somewhere a long way you won't enjoy being there?

When I was 20-ish I drove to Glastonbury festival on my own because I'd been watching on TV and I knew a band I like were playing that evening. This was in the days where you could still jump the fence. So I did that, drove a couple of hours, watched the band I wanted to see and then drove home again because I didn't have anywhere to sleep!

It doesn't seem enjoyable if you don't know the way there very well or you have never driven that way before. I can just visualise being stressed out in trying to get there. It happened before a year or two ago when I drove to somewhere I had never to driven to before and my mum was with me and we took the wrong road to get there and had to turn back around and wait in lots of traffic until eventually we got there. We were both exhausted from it once we got there and were even stressing out because we were worried we were too late because our visit had been booked and it was quite late. But the staff there helped calm us and said it was fine and we still managed to get in which was great.

But you don't like satnav? That's tough then. I don't know what to suggest. I like and am good at memorising routes from maps before I travel and reasonably good at not panicking if I get lost.

But I guess if its an anxiety causing thing for you then that's going to limit you. Do you think it would help to just do it more, until you get more confident? Or is it not one of those things?
