You know when you fail at something, but only just, and you're told that it's not good enough? Which, you are aware of, but you also wish that people would recognise the effort you put in and just how close you were to success.

Not to the point of coddling, just a quiet reassurance of - you'll get it next time. Keep your spirits up. I know it's not the job of others to keep me going but ugh I crave it sometimes. Just a pat on the shoulder. A - "I see you're trying, keep going. I believe in you" not even necessarily in those words.

I know adulthood is supposedly about holding your own hand, parenting yourself, but even so.

...

Yeah. I know the world doesn't revolve around me. But I do feel a certain emptiness that I can't quite articulate. Coldness.

Sending hugs and reassurance, Lost_dragon.

You seem like a very smart and hardworking person (and kind, and funny, and creative ....)
I'm sure that whatever you're trying to achieve won't be far away.

You've got this.

Thank you both. :)

I can understand the importance of tough love to an extent - 'I push you because I know you're better than this', but it can be a little suffocating at times. Certain peers of mine have the best of intentions but not the best execution.

I don't want to stagnate. I know it's well intentioned advice, from others, and they want me to succeed. I don't want to become complaisant in where I am and not progress forwards, but I also don't want to be constantly reviewing and micro-managing myself if that makes any sense.

I suspect this is somewhat a part of my quarter-life crisis. I'm trying not to overthink so much.  :x

A quarter-life crisis is the new mid-life crisis for millennials and more recent generations.

Good luck and hang in there, Lost_dragon!
