What has everyone here tried to help for sensory issues with noise?
I feel like the only thing that might work for me is to try to wear something that will dampen the volume.

Hi, Folks,

Sounds have bothered me since forever. I habitually carry (flesh-colored) earplugs in a little vial. As an ADHD-er, also, I have a bowl where everything dwells that belongs in my pockets when I leave the house. A little pack of earplugs is always there, with the keys and the wallet.

There are very vibrantly-colored earplugs out there (probably for use on construction sites, where people need to know in advance of some event that everyone around them is protected properly.) I get jars of 100 through Ama zoo n. Mack's is the brand name.

It took a lot of practice to make sure I always have them with me, but MAN, they can be a lifesaver in, e.g., a supermarket where toddlers are going crazy, or on a street when a siren goes by.

Hope this helps.

Was alittle pricey for me , When I bought them. And it seems that the more it costs the easier it is to Lose my pair of
B o s e brand earbuds .. They have been life savers ..And its weird , somedays , when stress seems low, ears seem less sensative to me. .... They eork for me... but there are seceral brands of Noise cancelling earbuds, but I found , my choice the best easiest to operate for me.

My problem is quiet sounds like a crinkling paper bag.
I wear earplugs to sleep but nothing helps in the day.

I have a tree lined garden this is a peaceful place to hang out if you don't mind the noisy birds and and animals that visit. I've learned to recognized the loud drum of the Pileated woodpecker!

depends on the situation. At home I use a "white noise" machine and I often run a window fan, even in the winter (but not at the window) to block out neighbor sorts of noises. Other times I use ear plugs. I have a headset with ear buds that I can put on and play my favorite music. I can't use the headband type earmuffs due to hating the feel of wearing them, but there are other ways to work around some of that. Can you narrow down the times when sounds are most distressing?
