finding out I had Asperger's Syndrome was the biggest disappointment of my life.

you see, I had actually thought I was original, and unique and no one else in the world was like me. Now I realize that I am not original, nor unique and there are many people like me.

~sigh~

Having parents who preferred to have become homeless over making any effort at all that would help me attend college. Having same parents complete ignore it when I was literally, and very obviously, starving to death. Having o friends because all my teachers frequently repeated the line "You're family will treat you better than anyone else ever will" and I was foolish enough to believe it.

My biggest disappointment is not having a better relationship with my father. He was an alcoholic, and a lot of his drinking heavily was because I was such a bad child growing up, I regret my whole past I think I defintely deserved to be beaten the way I was. I only wish I could have shown him how much I've progressed but he passed away just last year from cancer and liver failure. I did so much to show him that I did care for him, but I just wish I was a better daughter, I think really thats my biggest disappointment :( !

...sounds a lot like my family.

Being born was probably my biggest disappointment. the family i was born into would be the second biggest.

when i got my asperger's diagnosis removed from my records, i envisioned that everyone was going to treat me with more respect, and that i could do everything i wanted and that i was never going to be held back. But nothing changed, Im still treated like an imbecile and im not allowed to do anything, it just sucked.

SoccerFreak, can I ask you who's in charge of your life the the extent that they can prevent you from doing stuff? :)

It's disappointing to feel no enthusiasm for anything. It affects everything I do, as I'm effectively half-present at any given time and have no real interest in most things and nothing can really please me or upset me, I'm so apathetic.

Hksj, if you mind it you're no longer apathetic, but suffer from sensory deprivation. :)

oh! too bad you didn't continue the relationship, at the end of it you could list it as one of your biggest disappointments, too. . .

I hope everyone feels better~!
