It's been seven years since I have seen dad and today he randomly turns up at the door step. I was shocked to say the least.

He came inside and sat down...to talk about one of my childhood traumas. Then he started talking about it in detail and I told him to stop but he wouldn't. Then dad started talking about abusing animals for fun and I love animals so that was hurtful to me.

Mum told him that I have AS...he did not even care. He said to me "I don't believe that". It hurt me to know that my own father doesn't even care about me.

Seven years...and all he could talk about were those things.

I thought that I had lost a relationship with my father which could be repaired...but now I know that we have never even had one.

I'm sorry you had to go through that. How did he leave you? Does he plan to do this to you again? If I was in your shoes I would only meet up with him again with a certified therapist present, that way the therapist can prevent such painful topics & allow you both to get more out of a visit with each other. I wouldn't hold what he said today against him, he clearly wants to be in your life he just needs to learn a few things.

He didn't say goodbye to me when he left. He left me feeling angry.

I don't think my father would see a therapist...but it would be worth a try I guess.
I'm not sure if he plans on doing this again.

Your experience is exactly why I am glad that I haven't seen my father in 20 years. I don't need to be hurt like that ever again.

My deepest sympathies to you...don't let him hurt you anymore.
