Ok... had a complete metldown last week... and i mean for the entire week... wandered around my apartment just short of screaming at the top of my lungs... this happens now and then... people/things/world/etc just get overwhelming and everything comes crashing down...

The problem is... I've a job... so I told them I was sick... which I guess is the truth in one way or another... but of course now they want a doctor's note stating I'm ok to come back to work... hahahahha... yea I can see this...

Hey doc..write me a note saying I'm ok to go back to work... doc: ahhh who are you and what did you have? me: Ahhh, nothing I just couldn't leave my apartment or talk to people for a week. But I'm better now.

hahahahaha

Tell the doctor that you felt like you had the flu. That's not a lie. It's a selective presentation of the information. They don't really care as long as you bring them something.

Have you ever found yourself resisting getting sick to the point that you didn't know if you were sick or not? I have.

Grimfaire, I am so sorry. I have meltdowns too, but your week sounds nightmarish. I guess I've had parallel happenings. About explaining to your doctor....I do not know. I would hate to lie and say something like, "Oh, I had the flu." However, many doctor's are totally unfamiliar with meltdowns.

Most importantly, I hope you feel better soon. I imagine having an extended meltdown of that severity is very taxing on you, in every way. Are you feeling all right? Maybe your doctor could help you with that. Ideally, whatever precipitated your meltdown will go away forever!

The hard part is starting over after an episode. Hope you feel better soon though.

Welcome back,I wondered were you had gone.

If you have any relationship with a DR you can tell him that you have episodes of depression and a mild "paychotic break" that made you affraid to leave your house.Thiis is not only true...it's something that an average DR should know about,(Unlike AS,which still appears off most of their radar screens). You can also explain to him that you do not want your place of work to discriminate towards you by knowing about your "psychological issues" and would prefer that he tell him that you had the flu or food poisening from eating a chiken pot pie(Swansons is the brand this week  (or some such). This should be reasonable. If you have the kind of problems expressing yourself in front of these kinds of people as I do....write it all out for him/her and hand it to him during the appointment. If he suggests that you see someone, agree, you can always cancel....but it might be interesting to talk to someone about stress.

The other idea is a little weirder. You can tell them that you didnt go to a DR because you are a Christian Scientist and just hired a Christian Science Practictioner to pray for you<----that's a real thing.I was raised in the religion and that's what my parents did whenever I was sick. However,if you are as bad a liar as I am,you will have to convince yourself that one of these stories is "sort of true" or self justify the lie as the cost of being an aspie in a world of prejudice, uninformed NT's.

Good luck.I hope you feel better soon.I've had weeks like that and many more that I made myself go to work, only to have meltdowns there...not fun either.

Your not an idiot at all!
You can't help your stuation it is not your fault.
Most doctors (general practitioners) will be unfarmilliar with meltdowns as I found out mine was too when I needed a doctors note.
In the end, my GP just wrote that I was un-able to attend college because of mental health reasons, he didn't specify which was ok with the manager of college, just aslong as they get a doctors note they are fine with it.
Just explain your situation to your GP, if he does not understand then just tell him to write that you were "mentally unstabe" or get him/her to write what mine did as I mentioned above.

Hope you feel better soon.
