I think that many/most Americans are obsessed with the idea that a college degree is a pasport to the middle class.
So they rack up huge student loan debts and still can't find a job.
Better that they had become truck drivers or plumbers or electricians.
Ugh, don't I know it...
Feel like my degree has gone to complete waste. I'm making payments on student loans and working for nearly minimum wage for years now. I could have started this job 10 years ago, at least I'd have gotten several raises by now. College, thus far, has only set me back in a major way, with no hope of catching up anytime on the horizon.
Specialized skills are the way to go. Knowledge is power, but skills/experience is king.
Anyone sometimes feel like having a college degree actually hurts your job hunt? You're either underqualified or overqualified.
