I've been down with the flu for the last 4 days, and it's awful.

Do any of you find it really hard to deal with illness like that? I've never had this before, and I just feel like my body's going into overdrive somehow. Light hurts, sound hurts, breathing hurts, moving hurts... thinking hurts!! I can barely breathe, and my entire body is like it's on fire or something, it's so achy, I feel like I'm being stabbed all over. It's like complete sensory overload but the painkillers aren't working and being the partial-insomniac I am I can't sleep either. Even the feel of sheets on my skin causes it to burst out in pain.

Any advice?

I just don't know how much more of this I can take, my muscles feel like they want to explode or something!! I would just cry and rock but that'll just drain what little energy I have left.

Two years ago, I didn't just have the flu. I had the SUPER flu. I had every flu symptom you could ever get when getting the flu. However, with that superbug, I spent a week at a music conference when the illness was at its peak. I wasn't forced to leave.

Because of that awful flu, I have forced myself to get flu shots here on campus. I got one earlier in the month because bronchitis was spreading across campus.

I've got pretty much everything too, it's awful. Aside from the aching, my head feels like it's going to implode, I'm so hot and my temperature just will not go down, then I'll start shivering with cold even though I'm roasting up. My nose is running and it's moving into my ears, I have an awful cough and no voice whatsoever, my throat kills, I vomited yesterday morning... uuugh.

I swear it's because about 6 weeks ago I had bronchitis, which led to asthma, so they gave me antibiotics and an inhaler. That's the first I've taken prescription meds in years and years, and I think it's knocked my system so left me open to this. I did take probiotics after it, and I take large doses of Vitamin C/echinacea/garlic, but it seems nothing will rid me of this thing. Everyone I've been in contact with the day before it has it too so I feel even worse for giving it to them!!

I won't get the flu shot because I don't believe in vaccinations (no, not because of the MMR/Autism thing!!). The only time I took an anti-flu immune boosting prescription thing I ended up with some awful hybrid flu thing for weeks, and my Mum had a flut shot once and was down with plurisy within days, so they're a no-no for me!!

I just wish this aching and fever would go away. Everything hurts, it's unbearable. Even my eyes burn!! :(

Sorry for going on, I just need to vent somewhere. I hate doing nothing, yet I couldn't even walk to the end of my road this morning.

The flu vaccination doesn't work for everyone. Currently, it has worked so far for me. Anyway, just make sure that you have lots of tissue, medicine, water, a toilet, and a bed close by. It's a nightmare to have, but it will go away eventually. My super flu lasted for about 2 weeks. I swear that I really needed to see a doctor and I came close to passing out due to the coughing. Although very difficult, the best treatment is bed rest.
