Ever have that one person in your life that seems to make you feel like a failure no matter how hard you try?

Yes, that happens a lot at work. The harder I try the worse it gets.

Yes, I can relate to those feeling exactly. It's not that I 'm afraid to try... it's I'm afraid to try and fail.

That's exactly like me, but I still always try my best. I do think I could do a lot better, if I wasn't so scared of failing.

Oh god, me, too! I don't even like to look at old photos. When I see them, it's likely I'll think, that's the time I failed to do this or that, immortalized in a picture.

I've had those kind of people in my life. One is my dad, who I rarely talk to. The other was my ex, who I divorced. I don't know what your situation is, but if it's possible, try to distance yourself from them at the very least.

When the person is yourself... Well, that's a whole different matter.

Other people don't make me feel inferior.

Yes...and I "was" married to him.

Just don't start believing them siuan...you're NOT.

(hugs Siuan as well)

My older brother, the incredibly intelligent people that I know at this university (BYU) do make me feel inferior...but looking at old photos of myself or looking at kids around the ages of 6-9 almost always makes me cry. I always feel that I failed when I see those children or see myself in a photo.

Indeed it does. I have this...need? for people to understand the truth of me. When people misread my intent or call me something I'm not, it's deeper than hurt. I can't explain it. Ultimately I suppose I need to accept that people have their opinions (which are sometimes wrong) and there will be times when, no matter what I do, those opinions will not change.

As you say, still hurts though.

I do. But no one else does. Everyone else makes me feel nothing or superior. There were happy people who made me feel inferior in high school but they don't affect me now.

My dad was sort of like that, but if you mean someone that's always better and more talented and better-looking and luckier and more accomplished than you, my cousin Julie used to when we were kids; whatever I did she did better.
