I hate January. The trees and the decorations come down. The lights come down. Everything seems so dark and dismal. Another thing about January that throws me in for a loop, is that two horrible things happened to me, last January. I was assaulted by that man in the wheelchair and one of my best friends dumped me, shortly after that incident. I don't know if I'll make it through January, this year. Maybe I should take the plunge, so I can be in Heaven, where I can celebrate Christmas, every day.

Taking the plunge:

What everyday Christmas would be like, for me:

At least, I could stay fat and happy.

I don't hate January, my birthday's in January! :D

But then again, maybe that only means yet another year's gone by and I'm still stuck where I was after leaving High School. :(

Maybe I hate January after all...

Wake me up when January ends...

Throwing away your life is like destroying the ultimate, most expensive and awesome gift ever that was designed especially for you, stomping on the bits, and then throwing the bits right back in the giver's face, saying, "Thanks, but no thanks. This present sucks! I hate it!" and then saying, "Um.. can I come live with you?"

Not a good idea.

In this new year, resolve to find nice things about your gift that you like, find new ways to use it, and find new people to share it with. That way, someday when you do run into him again, and he asks you, "So, how did you like that thing I got you? What did you do with it?" You'll be able to give him a better answer.

After Christmas is the time to appreciate your gifts, think kindly of the people who gave them to you, make your resolutions, and welcome the new year with all its possibilities for awesomeness.

Six years ago, my grandfather died on Christmas Day. Obviously it was the worst Christmas ever. But my family still celebrates Christmas, and understands that just because that one Christmas sucked, it didn't mean that they all would suck for the rest of our lives. Don't let one lousy January ruin all the rest of your Januaries. Some of them might be awesome.

Here's one suggestion for a plan to get through January with the least amount of collateral damage: You'll need
* Supplies of just about to last you a month. Be sure to have things like remedies for making hot cocoa...
* An armload of excuses not to leave the house for the duration of the month.
* Ample supplies of snowblizzards
Create a cozy corner with anything from your computer to snacks within arm's reach, and with a view out the windows, so you can sit in your warm and cozy place, and enjoy the sight of people outside braving the elements :-D

I've thought about what you've told me, and I'm not going to take my life. When New Year's Day comes, I'm going to forget about last January. I'm also going to enjoy what's left of December. There's a New Year's Eve party at a nearby pub, tomorrow night, and I'm going to prepare myself, for that. :)

I'm also going to see January as an opportunity to let go of the other bad things the glitches that put a slight ripple in the relationship, between my mum and I. I'll also use it as an opportunity to volunteer at the Food Bank. I'll get right on it, as soon as the clubhouse opens, after the holidays, and tell Janet that I want to volunteer at my local Food Bank.

So many good things can happen, next year.

January is the second worst time of year for me (after summer 'cause I can't stand heat and humidity). The holidays are over and everything feels so...gray. January is a gray month for me. Even when the sun is shining I feel it has a certain grayness.

I like January. It heralds a return to routine and the knowledge that the weather is, after all that, slowly getting better. And of course the days start getting lighter. So I don't mind it too much.

CockneyRebel: Don't do anything daft, OK? YGM. And trying suicide is a bad idea. If you don't do it properly (and most people don't) you'll just be setting yourself up for pain and feeling much worse and very stupid after doing it.

Last January I got cheated on, and nearly died from pneumonia. I don't like Januarys either!

It's usually my most depressive month too, so I'm gonna have to prepare for that.

I'm deciding against suicide. I don't want to do something stupid, just to feel even more stupid, and worse.

I'm going to put the things that happened this year behind me, and look forward to the good things that 2008 will bring. I'm also thinking about volunteering at the Food Bank, in order to help people who are less fortunate than myself. I can allow for myself to feel the Christmas Spirit, whenever I look at ordinary, everyday things that are red and green, throughout the year. I also have Valentine's Day and St Patrick's Day to look forward, as well as Easter. :)

There's no rule that says you can't leave the tree up until Feb.

Wonder how it would look decorated for Valentine's Day?

Your whole world can change in a year...sometimes not the way you expect it...sometimes better.

There is if you're Catholic, at least. Needs to come down on the Ascension, which is the 6th of January.

I think another reason that I don't care for January, is that I associate it with having to go back to school, from Preschool through to my second year of College. I've hated school, with a passion. I didn't really get along with my peers. I'd try to be friends with them, but they would just shut me out. I know that was a long time, ago.

My tree doesn't have to come down, either. I can have a Valentines Tree, a St Patrick's Tree, and an Easter Tree. I can take it down, for the months of May, June, July, August and September, and than put it back up, for Halloween. I'll just need to make a space for my decorations.

I'm going to enjoy my last day of December, like it's Christmas. I'm not going to worry about the New Year, quite yet.

I'm glad that I live on my own. My dad hates Christmas.

I guess that I should have been prepared for my old feelings about the after Christmas period to come back, on the first of December, when I've decided that I was over the demise of the Routemaster, and that I was going to have the best Christmas that I've had, in three years. I think that if I was better prepared, I wouldn't have needed to start this thread. I can concentrate on what a good Christmas Season I've had, and how I was able to overcome an obstacle, in order to make it successful.
