I'll keep pushing and fighting for my autistic family but let me wallow in these lyrics that reached me better than anything else when I was a kid.

Oh poor lonely child, poor lonely child...

When you're alone, alone in the world
When you're alone in the world;
Blown-away leaves get blown in the world
Swirled-away leaves get swirled

Listening to your heels when you walk,
making a lonely clack...
You don't know how it feels when you talk
and nobody's voice talks back

|:
A hand for each hand was planned for the world
Why don't my fingers reach?
Millions of grains of sand in the world
Why such a lonely beach?

Where is the voice to answer mine back?
Where are two shoes that click to my clack?
I'm all alone in the WOOOOORLD!! ! :|

Yes we all need to wallow sometimes. I channel whatever feeling I have into music.

I understand completely. Just think when you're alone that there are other people who feel alone as well - in that regard, you're not alone. Sometimes when you're consumed by grief you can't believe it, but it's only a matter of time until you meet new people.

Your sentiment feels better than a hug because I know that WP people really understand better than anyone what our kind of aloneness is.

I used to feel that way, from time to time. It's not a good feeling. I still feel that way, on my darkest days.

The song was from Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol. Such a simple song but it was enough.

Thank you for sharing it.
I'm going to keep a copy of it... I really appreciate what it says.

You are so thoughtful to ask. It made me wonder about what music makes me feel connected to others. I thought about a song Cat Stevens sang in Harold and Maude. It fits pretty well. Btw, if you're too young to know about Harold and Maude it's worth a view. Now I see Harold as a very aspy guy.

I used to trust nobody, trusting even less their words,
Until I found somebody, there was no one I preferred,
My heart was made of stone, my eyes saw only misty grey,
Until you came into my life girl, I saw everyone that way.
Until I found the one I needed at my side,
I think I would have been a sad man all my life.

I think I see the light coming to me,
Coming through me giving me a second sight.
So shine, shine, shine,
Shine, shine, shine,
Shine, shine, shine.

I used to walk alone, every step seemed the same.
This world was not my home, so there was nothing much to gain.
Look up and see the clouds, look down and see the cold floor.
Until you came into my life girl, I saw nothing, nothing more.
Until I found the one I needed at my side,
I think I would have been a sad man all my life.

I think I see the light coming to me,
Coming through me giving me a second sight.
So shine, shine, shine,
Shine, shine, shine,
Shine, shine, shine.

You've just helped decide what I'm doing tonight... eating pizza and watching 'Harold and Maude'!

Thanks.. that's a nice gift you probably didn't realize you were giving

And you just gave me a gift. I cried through the whole video but it was a nice cry. What a good movie.

I'm sure I've seen that before.. Anywho I'm gonna go look in HMV tomorrow for it.

Keep happy Becky. It's not nice when ppl I like are sad and I can't do anything about it.

Thank you, LadyMacBeth. You're always so compassionate on this board. If you ever meet Clarence from It's a Wonderful Life and he makes you see what people are like if you had never been born. I'm sure that the least of what you'd notice was that Wrong Planet would be sadder place.

And wsmac, too!! !

Sometimes you need to wallow in your own self pity as a kind of reflective period.
