Maybe not the place to say this, but I have a thread on the "Love and Dating" section, which I keep updating as people seem to be interested, but these posts require help from others, but instead all I see is people not helping at all and seemingly ignoring the post. Fair enough, seeing my name as the last poster may make people think I'm bumping the topic, but I'm really not.

Fot those who have helped before, please read, because I could really use the help right now.

I've had that happen to me quite a few times.

This has happened to me in other forums and groups. I can relate, it's not a good feeling.

Sometimes.

It only really matters if its by someone I care about though.

To bad we can't see unwritten replies that are just nods of agreement or sympathetic expressions from the readers of other people's posts.

it's not intentional; you're just having to compete with all the other threads here...

Yup, in real life, and on the forums.

lol that's the story of my life.

In fact, in my high school yearbook there was a section where each person in the class had a 'listing' of things like "Most likely to:" and "Will always be:" .. and everyone voted on what to put on each category for every person. It was for fun.

Mine, by unanimous vote.. Will Always Be: Ignored.

It was known that my monotone voice 'tuned' people out of whatever I was saying..it was an unconscious thing (as it happened even when doing a class project). So it was my 'curse' and my classmates and I joked about it every time it happened. So I got that voted into my yearbook.

During college and work that kept happening to me so I learned to compensate by keeping my conversations short and to the point. Anything more than 3 paragraphs worth of 'text' and people tune me out.

Isn’t this the story of most of our lives?

It’s gotten so bad on other forums for me, I actually posted in a ‘Random Thoughts’ thread on another site that I was a figment of everyone’s imagination and that if anyone acknowledged my post then they were indeed insane.

In real life, my role is The Observer. I can watch but if I try to join in, I will receive a cold reception from everyone else who is actively participating.

I agree with pakled, it may not intentional. It takes me forever to catch up on everything if I've been away for a day.

It's like people will want to be friends with people who have no goals in life, but not people who are hard-working and mature, like me.

I'll bet if I sat at home, played video games, and smoked pot all day, people on here would like me.

My personal theory on this is that almost everyone on forum boards feel ignored or a thread killer. There is an illusion on a board that all posters are all cavorting together and you are left out of it all.

But in reality you cant see all the people reading your post and looking at your avatar and sig line and admiring your turn of phrase.

The thing about boards is that the most controversial topics get all the hits and people with ordinary threads can find they dont get as many. But it is just the way boards work, especially a large one such as this. It is harder to make friends on a large board.
