I think video games ruined my life

Video games. My addiction. My obsession. My life.

All I ever do is play video games. Mostly PS2 and DS games, as well as ROMs on my nanna's PC. After I stopped going to school, I turned to video games to keep me entertained. And now it's become a huge addiction. I've been trying to play less, but it never works. I'm also getting a XBOX 360 for my 17th birthday in May this year, not only for the games, but for the media stuff too. You see, I don't live in reality. It's become quite a problem, as I all ever talk about is video games. And how will I make friends by talking about video games non-stop? I have very few interests, most of which people my age wouldn't like. I'm not sure what to do anymore...

Try reading more often.

I've read all the decent books I have though. And mum won't get me any more, as they're expensive.

have your parents or someone keep all your game systems for a week or something...

or go camping

I love camping, but we'll never do it again. Last time we went camping, I picked up a log which was on fire, accidently threw it on reeds near the river and started a fire.

Video games are global, you owe it to the world to continue.

Your taste in art is improving, pencil and paper is cheap.

Obsession is a way of developing inner space, you seek input, and live in Murrey Bridge.

You could be doing a lot worse. Art is output, it is good for you. It covers cracks in the walls.

Work on your plan for world conquest!

ah video games don't ruin your life. your school and work is gonna ruin your life... it happened to me...

try the following:

play video games
listen to internet radio(pandora.com)
watch youtube videos
make a website
write poetry
or do art
go camping
Sleep for 24 hours and you'll feel better (lmao, thats what i do)
read google news
read books

You can't just stop cold turkey...

Maybe create a weekly timetable filled with things that might be good to do.

Eg:

Drawing
Reading a Book
Cleaning up (yep - sorry)
Going for a walk
Gaming
Writing
Web Browsing
Watch TV/DVD

Then try to at least tick everything off once per week.

If you can, try to add some social things in there too - interaction with people, coffee shop etc... (if possible).

I have really bad RSI now - so I can tell you exactly how games affect you by the time you hit about 35.

I wish I could go out, but I don't know where teengers hang out.

How about the arcade?

Don't have one.

Public Library? Borrow books for free.

Where the heck ARE you? The outback?

If you live where they can't even get enough folks interested in a damn ARCADE, and you already used up the public library, then maybe it IS so boring that you have to play video games.

Look, if there's no place to go, and no one to talk to, and nothing to do, then play the damn games.

In fact, why don't you turn your place into an arcade? Then you'll make friends.

They'll be a bunch of kiss-ass 12 year old boys, but that's better than nothing, right?
