My iPod died last night... it simply refused to turn on so I couldn't listen to music last night...

I bought it in November 2006 as a gift to myself for the hard work I was doing at Big W. I got it 10% off as a bonus for being an employee. I had my entire music collection on there - every CD I had was on there. Good thing iTunes kept a copy on my hard drive...

I wish I still had it, though, I really enjoyed listening to the music going to sleep.

On the plus side... there's no saying the hard drive is bad - it is now sitting on my desk, awaiting an adapter to put it into a computer.

RIP, My iPod, 2006-2008

...assuming you already tried a reset, but just in case.

Did you happen to get the update last night, there was a firmware update for ipod's version 7.6.1
Try rebooting it by holding the middle and top menu button till you get an apple screen, or leave it unplugged till the power drains, then try recharging

Hey all,

Thank you for your kind messages of support, however I've already dismantled it and attained the hard drive from it. Now I just need an adapter...

I'll save up and buy another one. Until then, I'll copy my music collection to my work PC and listen to the music there. And I'll listen to the radio on my mobile phone until I get another iPod. They've come down in price lately, I can get a higher capacity one than the one I had before for the same price.

Thank you again for your condolences.

You're welcome, Aaron!

By the way, I haven't heard from you in a while. How are you?

I have a 2nd gen Nano which is litteraly my life support, and I am now saving up the £150 big pounds to upgrade to the 80gb video because that will be able to hold my massive collection, if you wanna replace your pod, go for this one because the newest one, the ipod Touch is only 8gb, and the 80gb video is well, 80gb, and alot cheaper.

Shuffle. 2GB. Cheap. I've got a massive music collection, but rarely find myself needing more than ~2gb of music, and if I do, I've probably got my laptop along with me, so that isn't an issue. Most of the time, 1GB is more than sufficient.

Also, less to break. There's buttons. That's it. If you're hooked on the whole video screen thing, well, not much of an option than to upgrade. I found myself happier with the original (usb stick looking) shuffle than I was with the 5G iPod I had.

Especially if you're using it primarily for when you go to sleep, if you don't need all the bells and whistles, just save your money.

Buy a Samsung YP-P2 instead. It has better sound quality and you don't have to pay for firmware updates and it has a radio.

Not too bad... had some rocky times with an NT girlfriend and her family. See "Common sense? WTF?" for what I mean.
