Normally this will happen about once a fortnight maximum but lately it seems to happen multiple times a day and I don't know what to do about it. I'm talking to the school counsellor and she thinks it may have something to do with my acne medication (the meds I've been on for a few months the overloads about 1-2 weeks). All I want is earplugs or permission to use my MP3 but she wants to stop it. I know she means well but I don't know what to do. I can't ask for them because my family doesn't believe I have AS but that I have classic autism and when I asked for earplugs it was because they fight so they'll get wound up if I ask again. And I'm not aloud my MP3 in most classes. Also the sensory overloads get me closer to meltdowns. Any advice?

This is one thing you have to fight for. You should be allowed to wear earplugs. Have you gone to the principal about this issue. You should, just my two cents. Because, it is easy to get overwhelmed with so many things going on!

I'm getting the earplugs tomorrow although the psychiatrist still wants to know why my hearing has increased in sensitivity as of late.

the psychiatrist is smart.

If you can figure out what's caused it to get worse, you have a hope of treating it. Ear plugs will get rid of the problem in the short run, but dealing with the increased sensitivity could prevent it from happening again.
