My beloved little kitty Action!cat had a seizure in my bed early this morning. I don't know why I woke up right before it started, but she had a full tonic-clonic seizure and I took her to the emergency vet, where she continued to seize and I knew it was time to let her go.
She was only about 11 years old (we think) but had some health problems and I knew a few months ago that she wouldn't live a full long cat life.
This was my favorite cat ever. She was so sweet and right now she would be sitting on the armrest of my computer chair if she were still here. I miss her so bad already.
I wish I had a better picture of her, but this is the best I can find right now.

Oooh, been there. I'm sorry. I had the same situation with my cat a few years ago, seizures due to kidney problems. She was 13.
Pertty kitty.

I lost my beautiful tortie to cancer, several years ago. She was 11. Sorry to hear about your loss. She will still be with you in spirit.

I am sorry to hear about your kitty, its hard to lose a pet, I have
ferrets, and they only live about 6 to 8 years, so its hard to let
them go when its their time, but its always for the best if they
are suffering. :(

oh, RiverOtter! How devastating. Your friend and you had to make that decision to let your friend go. (((((hugs)))))) I was always comforted by my beliefs in reincarnation, and the more you individualize an animal, the more of a personality developed, the more developed the soul as life goes on again.

my last kitty was devoured by coyotes, and I thought I would lose my mind with grief. Be comforted you know your kitty was loved and humanely put down till the end.

I am so sorry - I love animals too and, to me, they are 'people.' I know that hurts.....I've had to put down pets out of necessity. She was beautiful and I'm sure she loved you back! Can you make a memorial of her? My cat, Tesla, says he's sad for you too :flower:

I made a memorial wind chime for 'Slinky' and put it up by every door I have had, since. It tinkles melodiously and reminds me of his furry spirit and makes me smile for the good times.

That's so sad. We had to put down our 16 yr old cat with FIV in November. I miss him still. We decided to get two cats at the SFSPCA a few months later and they're part of our family now, but we still miss our Seamus. I think your picture shows a beautiful sweet kitty.

riverotter,
do know what the cause of the fit was?
it is good that were able to know she was going to die sooner than later in advance, rather than just having to cope with it all in one go,but it is not easier either way, just a bit different.
it will get easier, when get used to not seeing her around, and having a routine without her,it will get easier to think of her without thinking of her death.

if havent done before, make a catster page for her,it would be a good tribute for her.

awww....so sad...
One of my cats died at around 18, there was something going on in between his eyes and brains, he proceeded to urinate on my father when brought to the vet
