Roxas v. Juvie
Hi. Been a while since I've posted in the Haven. Normally I'm content with either giving advice or berating another person's enemies with obscenties. It's rarely when I need help, but today is one of those times. Not really anything anyone can do, just would help if I had a few conforting words.
Well, here's the situation. Now don't think of me as a bad person becuase of the following, I'm actually quite the opposite, but everyone f***s up at least once in their life, and this is where I have made my mistake. Anyways, I'm done beating around the bush: I've got to go to Juvenile Court tomorrow to answer to charges of domestic assault. This is following an incident between myself and my mother last February, where I let an argument get a little out of hand and ended up leaving the house in handcuffs. Not the best way to spend a Thursday night, believe me.
Well, now I have to go before a judge and explain the whole damned situation. Thankfully, I've got a few things pulling in my favor. Firstly, my parents are trying their very hardest to get me cleared, even though they were the victims of this crime. Secondly, I handled the arrest well, I was polite to my arresting officer and even passed off the whole ride downtown deal as a "learning experience." (Well, I certainly learned a lot. Firsthand account of what happens during an arrest. Not the most pleasant of experiences, believe me.) Thirdly, my behavior since being bailed out has been exemplary - not perfect, but nothing more serious than being sent to my room. (Which is a lot bigger than a holding cell.). And finally, as far as actual police intervention is concerned, my record is spotless not counting the above incident. My high school record is good too: only one instance of out-of-school suspension, which was more than two years ago. Seeing as this is my first offense, and given my tendencies to stay on the straight and narrow with only a few minor deviations, I doubt that they will give me a full sentence, and I should be tried as a minor, which means this incident will be completely deleted from my record in less than a year.
Yet despite all these confidences, I am still nervous as sin. The reason is completely obvious, I'm sure. There's always the off chance that said judge will be a stickler for absolute law, or worse. But it could be worse, that's what I keep telling myself.
My appearance is scheduled for 0945 CDT tomorrow. I will post the results of my trial as soon as possible, providing they don't decide to throw me in a cell. Any words of comfort would be duly apreciated. I'll shut up now so you can post them.

Hi Roxas_XIII, generally with a minors first time in court if the offense is not particularly bad then the Judge will frequently either assign unsupervised Probation or light supervision with some community service and maybe have a Probation Dept Report submitted with a follow up reports submitted to the court. If the case is handled this way then just be sure to keep your nose clean for the duration. I hope you get your issues with your parents resolved.
Well, someone from the higher ups must have been keeping an eye on me, if you catch my drift. It wasn't even a full court case, just a sit-down meeting with my case handler and my parents and I. He didn't sugar-coat it for me, he said i could and probably should've spent some time behind bars, but then decided to drop the charges. No record, no jail time, not even probation. I have to pay a $42 fine (which is really just my court costs) but other than that, he let me off. I assume the notion of sending me to jail was mean as a scare tactic. Not that I needed it, I had already resolved to treat my parents better since I was arrested three months ago, but of course he didn't know that. As for the $42, I shouldn't have a problem with that, as I've got a dog-sitting job with one of my dad's coworkers this weekend. I've worked with him before, and he always pays generously.
Crisis controlled, lesson learned, case closed.
