Bullying - help!
I'm in crisis, don't know what to do. I'm being bullied every time I walk the dog. I'm not a child, I'm retirement age. The bullies are other dog owners or other tenants in my apartment building. There's no physical bullying. There's a lot of confrontation and intimidation. I have one neighbour who opens her front door, watches me walk by, and shuts her door. She knows I'm coming in because we have the lobby on closed circuit tv. There's a woman with 2 small dogs who follows me and my dog. There's a teenager who blocks my way physically. And on and on.
This kind of thing is not new. I turn away from people to avoid using my social non-skills, so I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't. 2 years ago i hired a dog walker after the grandmothers started bullying me because (I think) I was turning away from the children.
I tried to give dog to a friend but her own dog doesn't like him, so he's coming back. And I'm going to have to run the gauntlet at least twice a day, every day. I miss my dog and I'll be so glad to have him back - but what can I do about the walks?
Somebody, please, any suggestions?
This is normal for NTs. They like to look at people and don't care if it makes anybody uncomfortable.
This could be a coincidence or, perhaps, she is interested in getting to know you. This is also common with NTs, as they like to pretend meeting people this way is "accidental."
That is uncalled for and should be handled quickly. A letter to your local police station, explaining this harassment, your AS and the ilegal behavior of this person might take care of that. Include times and dates that it happened and times you will be exposed again. NOTE: Your local patrol officer will probably want to speak to you in person. Be prepared.
I would strongly suspect the grandmothers don't think of it as bullying. After all this is normal behaviour for NTs, many times. They just assume they are teaching you "good manners" and don't have any idea how their actions speak so loudly to us.
Good news that you are getting your pup back. Even though I am a "cat person," I know how you feel.

My advice would be to get a bunch of shirts that say "If I want to talk to you, I'll talk to you" on the front and "Construction Vehicle: Do not follow" on the back (good for a chuckle). If they don't do custom jobs (no, they don't actually sell shirts like this) near you, then just buy a bunch of white t-shirts and do it yourself.
