As the title says, on the way to work yesterday, my mum was hit. She had right of way and everything. The other lady ran the red. I was beyond scared, hell, still am. Of course they took her to county medical, all the docs there are some sort of flop. They had her in and out in less than 2 hours? She was going 40, the other lady was doing 45, and it only took two hours to make sure she was ok? I know medical technology has advanced, but that's pathetic. She ended up flying across 5 lanes of traffic into a gas station, somehow avoiding two trees and a light pole. Her car held up suprisingly well, it's still totaled, but not the tin can I expected. She screwed up her knee and has some nasty bruising, even on her liver.

I just worry that the docs weren't paying enough attention and might have missed something, like a slow bleed. I'm always worrying about stuff like that.

Yikes, I'm glad your mom's still alive! 8O

I hope she gets better soon.

wow I am sorry to hear this, I hope she recovers fast, I have a friend who recently got into a car accident and got very lucky, even though the recovery was awful.

I'm glad that it wasn't any worse. I hope she recovers. I know how scary wrecks can be.

My brother was in a car wreck this summer and he was also covered in bumps and bruises but at least your mother didn't lose anyone. My brother had to lose his friend because she didn't make it but the other two did who were also in the car with him.

My cousin suffered brain damage in a skateboarding accident a few years ago, and the doctors said that he would come out of it with moderate to severe intellectual disability, loss of motor skills (they said that he would never walk again!), and possibly post-traumatic epilepsy. I mean, the man was seriously comatose.

The recovery took a while, but it transcended all expectations. My cousin maintained a normal IQ and his personality. His disabilities are limited to a speech impediment, some lost long-term memory (he has no memory of the year of the accident), and some early-Alzheimer's-esque daily forgetfulness. He holds a part time job.

Just an optimistic story for you. :)

Thanks, you guys are so awesome.

I had to take her back today for some mild swelling in the brain, nothing they said wouldn't pass on it's own.

Next step is to call a lawyer and make sure the other ladys insurance pays up, you know, rental car, time off work, medical bills, all that crap.

She's also gonna see a doctor about her knee in paticular, it's like it's missing a piece. Very odd feeling she says.

I will keep you and your mom in my thoughts. Yeah that's doesn't sound right that they let her out after 2 hrs.
