....and meds...I have pretty severe executive dysfunctions and our building inspection is on January 5th. We have this giant warehouse that we are trying to convert into a performance and arts space...The problem is that currently the buliding is occupied by tons of our stuff...and there is really no good place to put the stuff, and everyone i am working with is largely ignorant as to what is allowed to be in the building and what isn't.
I suppose we are not allowed to have any bedding or clothes here, but Our humongous library of books is ok?
The deadline is right around the corner and I am horribly confused and don't know where to begin...is it really necc. for us to pack up EVERYTHING?

And then there is the issue of my severe executive dysfunction...gahhh....I really really really really really really wish I was on ADD meds right now. No amounf of coffee and diet pills is gonna help me catch my snap...I am just pacing overwhealmedly in circles....We are very very very cluttered. There is random stuff everywhere...just looking at it makes me tired.

remember what you did when you moved the Super Happy Fun Land before?

you took it one step at a time, right?

First I would google the criteria that the building inspectors are gonna use
Second I would look at what they want in there and what you got in there
Third I would move the stuff you can have in there, in there, and move out all the stuff you can't have in there, outta there.

It's hard to say, over here the council would have the zoning, I suppose it's business not residential so yeah you need to hide the fact you live there, but like Merle said, you need to see the criteria and meet it. You can hire storage if you need to, they're usually like lockup garages, maybe you need to think about that, it's a hassle though, moving stuff out then back in again. It would be easier to hide beds and stuff, cheaper too.

Good luck.

a buidling inspection will cover the structure itself, how things are stored, are there clear exitways to the doors, fire alarms, extinguishers marked and accessible, head clearances in the rooms, electrical outlets available and not damaged.

Depending on your location, you should actually be able to research the last building inspection, and see what they graed. Now, another thing is the building inspection is on the owner of the buidling. Unless you bought the place, the landlord or lessor will be the one who has to sweat it.

Just look around, maybe stack things neatly and securely, don't have a load of power strips connected to other power strips, or too many plugs into too few outlets, nothing flammable close to sources of fire or flame, etc. Don't block fire exits, doorways, etc.

Good luck.

Building inspectors are more interested in structural electrical and good plumping. but they do need to have easy access
during the inspection, so I would start by sorting and packing clutter away in boxes and have them stacked away.

Reorganizes, keep all the flammables away from the exits and the electrical lighting and outlets.
place fire extinguishers near most of the outlets. be sure there is easy access to most every part of the building,
be sure all the fire extinguishers are up to date and ready for use.

It is a warehouse, where people store things.

At the worst, you will be found in violation of code and shot on the spot, this is Texas.

Mostly they just pretend to do their job, and since you want to have people in there, well marked exits, fire control, is it sprinklered?

They like finding something wrong, and then giving you time to fix the problem, coming back, it makes it look like they work, keeps the insurance valid, and everybody just moved from a huricane, and the whole world is a mess.

Claim to be storing things for refugees, no one would belive how much junk you have.

Just be yourself and ask which city department gets rid of ghosts.
