Honestly, why can't other people just mind their own business when I clear my throat? I swear to God, every single time I go into Market Basket, it feels as if the customers are waiting to see me clear my throat, just to tease me about having a cold just for their own amusement. One time, an elderly lady from the next register over TOUCHED me before asking me if I was alright. And yesterday at school, when I went to the cafeteria to get a snack and drink, the cashier got arrogant with me about my habit. Well, I had told him that I've been trying to get rid of this stupid habit for 15 years, and you know what he said to me after I paid for my snack and drink? This is what he said: "Enjoy your habit." How arrogant of him is that? Should I file a lawsuit against the school for this?

Honestly, why can't people quit making fun of my throat clearing? How would a person on his or her cell phone feel if I kept asking him or her endless questions about who they were talking to and what they were talking about? As a kid, I got yelled at and spanked for clearing my throat. As a teenager, if my dad and I were driving somewhere, he wouldn't let me listen to WKLB for the rest of the ride unless I whined endlessly. Now, other people keep making fun of me for it.

And yet, when I do have the urge to clear my throat, I have to channel my entire energy into it, which means that if I'm bagging groceries, then eggs, chips, and bread will probably end up crushed because I have to focus all my energy that is being used to bag everything efficiently and correctly into not clearing my throat. If I'm playing Pokemon Battle revolution or any other video game, suppressing the urge requires that I stop what I'm doing, and focus all my video game energy into not clearing my throat.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to deal with this sh*t, because I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! I swear to god, one of these days, I am going to throw food at the next customer who teases me about it.

Sorry, I can't tell you, how to stop that habbit. Such things can become difficult, especially if done for a long time.

For the other people: Some I guess are not making fun, like the old lady you mention, but just want to help? The cashier guy just wanted to be funny, not necessarily arrogant. NTs make such jokes all the time with each other. Don't think about it.
Maybe if somebody asks, you can tell them that you have a slight form of asthma, that makes your throat very dry? Normally people make less jokes about people who are ill.

Is this a constant sensation you feel of needing to clear your throat?

My Uncle is a Pulmonologist, (a doctor that specializes in the diseases of the lungs and airway) and he often sees patients with such problems...and it is a result of excess mucus in your nose and throat, creating a condition commonly called, "post nasal drip."
He simply prescribes a decongestant like Sudefed for these patients...and it works!

Prehaps, you might want to give it a try.
