I asked for suggestions about a name for my new pet bearded dragon. This other person came and attacked and telling me I am a horrible person and that I am going to kill my new pet because she thinks I did not do the amount of research she finds sutible. Books and websites can only tell a person so much. If sitting up until two in the morning taking notes isn't good research I don't know what is.

This was my post:

I have a new baby bearded dragon. I will post pics when I find my new camera batteries and when he settles in some more. I'm worried the flash will scare him. The only issue I am having with him/her right now is trying to figure out a name. Names I've considered are Sunburst, Lemonade, Pred (after the lizard thing in Titan A.E.), Toto, Saske, Soka, and Peaches (after the fence lizard a friend and I found) and Milo. Please help me. I don't truely know if he is a boy or a girl yet so perferably something gender nutural or something that would be okay for a boy or a girl. Anything that is cute but not super super super long.

And this is her's.

So you don't know what you're doing, if your store is good, or anything and you ignored everyone's advice to find out more info first? That is horribly irresponsible of you. I hope your beardie isn't sick already or that you don't kill him or make him sick because of your ignorance.

People weren't just saying what they were saying for the sake of running their mouths (fingers). We have or have had exotics of various species and we know how difficult it is to properly care for them. My brother's iguana got rickets and suffered horribly, becoming permanently crippled and ultimately being put to sleep, because he didn't have the info on proper care.

You've screwed up big time, KM, and if you don't get your butt in gear and do your research, it's going to be the poor lizard who suffers because of it.

I was so happy about my new pet until she attacked me. Happiness is very hard for me to expirence and when I finnaly expirence it, someone always has to come and kill it.

If you did do your research and know what you are doing, don't worry about it. Just prove her wrong. That's what I like doing to people. Proving them wrong, even if they don't see it.

After you've cared for it a while and kept it alive, come back with new pictures and make her eat her words.

Firebyrd has some bad days when she's pretty hostile, don't let it bother you. If you said exactly the same thing to her again, chances are she'd be all nice and supportive.

Enjoy your pet!

keep in touch with an exotics vet (preferably one that specializes in reptiles) and enjoy your pet.

No, but I've talked to her a little, and noticed the wildly different tones to some of her posts.

Some lizard fanatics just get that way.

Everyone has to start somewhere.

Just keep it in proper heat, with prior UV, and feed it the right things, and it'll be fine.

The concern that you are showing for the care and well-being of your Bearded Dragon is very inspiring, PunkyKat.

I have no idea what you're talking about, so I'm guessing no.

I notice the reply refers to other posts in between yours and hers. What are some of them?

The My Little Pony Arena. It's a fourm for people who collect these toy horses from the 1980's.

Oh. Well I collected then in the 80's......
It wasn't much, I don't remember exactly what post, but we went back and forth a bit, then I pm'ed her because it was getting too weird in general. Just trying to understand her better, but she can be really defensive so, I gave up.
It was one of her first posts if you want to look for it. Or just read some of hers to see the variations I mentioned.

Thank God its not the same Firebird! At least hers is spelled differently. I would never attack someone unless being attacked myself. Then I strike back. There are some mean people on this forum, especially in the rate your mood from -10 to 10. I post happy and inspiring things and there's this person that sometimes attacks me for it and I won't mention his name. He gets annoyed and depressed at my posts and thinks I am bragging about my success. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH POSTING SUCCESSFUL STORIES!

I would strongly recommend that you join some kind of a bearded lizard hobbyist group in your area or even online. While many people bristle at Firebyrd's response, there is an element of truth to what she says. What may look deceptively easy on the surface about caring for an exotic pet may involve a lot more skill than meets the eye. But at any rate, I have found some quick links that you will find useful to help you care for your new pet. I do wish you all the success with your new pet.
