how many of you miss your real dads?

I miss my real dad. He passed away two years ago. He was never really in my life though. My parents divorced when I was 4 or 5. They both cheated on each other. I never knew that growing up though. If I did I would of hated him as much as my mum did. He wasn't much of a communicator. I suspect he was an Aspie.

I'm really not sure how to help. Well, my dad never wanted anything to do with me until I was 20. But I never wanted to do anything with him. I was living my own life. I used to think it was too late for him to make it better between us. He was never there when I needed him the most.

If you miss your real dad just give him a chance. If it doesn't work out it doesn't work out. But not doing anything will make you feel depressed too.

I miss my dad heaps, he was the only person who never ridiculed or ignored my random thoughts and ideas. and he was super-cool.

I miss my dad too. He has been gone over 4 years now. I am the man I am today partially because of him. He wasn't the best dad in the world but I know that he just wasn't good at some things. I suspect he had AS too because he wasn't good at socializing or showing emotion. He was the strongest man in the world to me and part of the reason I workout is so I can be and strong like he was.

Just like pensieve said, give him a chance. Once he is gone from this world, he won't be back and you'll regret not giving him that chance.

Occasionally, though he's more of a concept, 'The man that is just like me.' A lost mentor. Thirteen years has 'healed the gaping hole,' though in times of distress, disillusion, injustice, torment, the questions... sorrow, privately presents itself.

I don't know why, but I was so attached to my dad when I was a kid that I had nightmares about him dying, but now I've barely talked to him in 10 months-- about 10 times-- and I'm okay.

My parents divorced three years ago, and I see my dad every two weeks at weekends. I was fine until my mum got a new boyfriend, then I got really annoyed and started missing my dad living at home. But I might be going to live with him after Xmas if he says yes.
