Being 'nonegsistant' has been makeing me angry
I recently bought a book titles Women who Hurt Themselves, by Dusty miller, and I'm dissapointed. Yes, it gives examples of self injury other than cutting, which is a plus, because everywhere I looked so far it's cutting, cutting, and more about..... cutting. Want to find a vid on youtube about selfinjury? Cutting, cutting, and cutting.
This one mentions bullimia, plastic surgery, and drinking, but only briefly sais about hitting, burning and so on in, like, one line or two. 'sigh' What pisses me off about this book is it's extensive attention to incest, and no other causes. Ok, incest is bad, we get it, but for that to be the base cause for every subject character in the book?! From reading it, you'd conclude that incest causes self injury, period. And it didn't just put incest as a tramatic event in every lady character up to the middle of chapter two, it talked about incest being a trama reason or subconsious cause all over it practicaly.
I mean wow. For a self injurer who never got incest, but had an ex friend who had it, and got rejected by ex friend because of incest I knew nothing about, with the line "get a man" or knowing that her reason is for "freedom from the abuser". That #%$ hurts! (And I am NOT her abuser. Nore did I "work for him", or even know about it for that matter, but I was accused of that, simply because we were friends for four years.... and yes, it hurt plenty to loose her. nice..)
Are the rest of us not relevant to all these people if our self injury isn't cutting, and we don't get memories of incest? So annoying. So sick of the missnotices of everyone else. Another thing that really annoys me, is males only get a sliver of mention all over topics of self injury as if they to didn't exist. "This book will talk about different parts..." Yeah sure... right...
